A little back story.
I am a 36 YO guy with no university certificate, was too wayward to finish school in FUTO then, left school in my 2nd year for a 4 year course.

Tried my hands on business years later and currently have 7M naira saved.
Now, I want to go for degree and eventually start a family .
I am considering seeking admission in a UK or Canadian school. Luckily, I have sponsors .

For a guy of my age , looking to study IT related course or physiotherapy and eventually seeking residency, would you recommend UK or Canada?
Please I need supported answers.

Thank you all.

At your age you would most likely not get admission into an undergraduate program in either UK or USA.. I can get you into Canada through express entry even if you don’t have a degree or even if you can’t comfortably pass the IELTS exam

With that amount of money you have, you can comfortably process an educational visa to German including the €8640 you need blocked for visa application, transportation, applications etc., without even needing money from sponsors and you'll still have more than $3000 remaining to travel with.

German education is free, you'll only be paying about €150 or so per semester as student union fee depending on the university.

For the blocked €8640, the Government pays you back €720 monthly (12 months total - 720 x 12= €8640) for your upkeep. They do that so you have what to rely on for your monthly food, rent, transportation etc. They don't want you to become a nuisance to the society and the Government. In one year you should be able to secure a job and live your life easily.

To learn German language you can download and use an app called Duolingo.

I am not an Immigration Agent, I only know about this because I had done my research. You can search online too to confirm. You don't need to call me for help as well because I have given what I have with my comment.

Best of luck.

Thank you , grateful for your input

7m is okay for him for a 4-year major in the UK? Are you crazy?
. Dont be a dumbass! The 7m is just for a year tuition and other expenses, which is enough. I never mentioned 4 years. Even 7m isn't enough for a 4 year course in some private universities in Nigeria.

Yeah the age and lack of BSc will be a hindrance...depending on what he applies for.

That's why I suggested healthcare. The healthcare schools are admitting and the country is in heavy need of healthcare staff.

omotomki:
Age plays a key role in admission in foreign school ,except those ones looking for money.even some embassy will find it difficult that one really wants to go for bachelor at 36. It's possible any way, it's one thing to study abroad, it's another thing to get good job, at a particular age . If your motive is to leave naija, don't invest that money in education, u may think of short courses in I.T in some small European countries and then migrate later to bigger countries for job.all better still , learn I.T in naija and apply for jobs abroad

If you are book smart then you can choose any of the medical Fields but if you're not IT related will do and preferably Canada. You're more oppotuned to make it in Canada more than USA. My brother who is a level 2 RN Anesthesia in Canada earns $12k monthly but in USA it's about 10k

You're welcome.

I just remembered: Canada will recognize online education for the next year or two (due to Covid). So you could enroll in a Canadian certificate/diploma and start studying from Nigeria.

I know of a man who came from South Africa (Indian parents) to Canada with Chemistry degree.

After years of teaching and being a citizen, he started a medical degree (he was almost 40). Went from $70,000 a yr to $150,000 starting salary.

It is never too late.

3 of the guy's 4 kids are now doctors as well, specialists too.

@OP:

If you could save N7m via a business in Nigeria, you should be able to replicate that.

36 yrs old IMHO is too old to travel out to start a first degree and searching for a job thereafter.

If you want to go back to school, look for a Nigerian part time or online course in your field of interest so you can keep doing your business to sponsor yourself through school.

You can even reach out to Covenant University and Co if you are particular about your institution.

You can go for your masters later when you have a continuous source of income that can sponsor you.

Depending on how ready you are to achieve your dreams, bro nothing will stop you in achieving those dreams if you ready, not even your age.

Do not let nay sayers deprive you of your joy.

Nothing beats schooling in a foreign country provided you are ready to stay there after school. You would have to work out a settlement plan, each country has its own settlement plan so that will be a different topic.

Your age has got nothing to do with you getting admission, whoever says otherwise isnt informed, I am based in the UK, I know what I am saying. What schools are after is paying the fees, fees are very expensive, the cheapest school in the UK for international students charges £12,500, you can do the maths for a 3yrs B.Sc program, also note that I said 3yrs as degree innthe UK is 3 yrs but international requirements to gaining admission isnt about the age, its about qualifications.

If you can raise the funds, you have 2yrs to work on your student visa after schooling in the UK. You will make all money spent within 1yr of working, jobs are plenty in the UK, I repeat, whoever says otherwise isnt informed.

If you can spend the money, you will reap the benefit eventually.

Apply to Canadian schools for a 2year diploma in either Cyber Security or Big Data Analytics, those are the two courses that will make you earn some of the biggest salaries in the Western World now. 2years diploma in Canada will entitle you to 3years postgraduate work permit. As soon as you complete 1year of employment, you can apply and get permanent residence after which you can proceed to Bsc if you want but this time around, you will pay school fees same as citizen and can even get grant and loan from the govt. Two years after getting permanent residence in Canada starting out as a student, you will qualify and can apply for your citizenship. Apart from the fact that it is cheaper than the UK, it may take you like 10years in the UK before you can get their citizenship

@bold is your answer.

Your example was a citizen, could work legally, earn big and support himself.

He was not starting afresh; he just changed his career path in a society he has mastered.

Kanayo o. Kanayo just finished his Legal studies in Nigeria; Dangote can decide to read medicine today if he fancies it and earn from it.

OP would not have that luxury abroad. He is at the stage your friend was 10 - 15 years earlier.

Does the OP have that time without a regular/stable source of good income?

lol, getting into US ain't easy as it seems at that age.

Plus how does one go about the auto mechanic craftsmanship when he gets there ?

First is to apply to an auto mechanic school .... e.g .. Lincoln Tech. Then for a Student Visa . Age doesn't matter in the US when it comes to schooling. But like anything else.... these are COVID-19 times .... things are not normal so one has to look very well before leaping.

Nothing is impossible for people that have set their minds to what they want to achieve. There is no age limit for travelling abroad and working. I still don't understand your reasons for saying that the man is too old to go abroad.

Lol. False.

Pretty much all the comfortable and rich people I know are either trying to get permanent papers or sending their kids abroad.

Super rich people already have citizenship in various counties in case.

A British company that arranges special visas and diplomatic passports from smaller countries saw their Nigerian market balloon last year during Covid.

You seem to have a problem understanding what I wrote. I want to repeat what I wrote 'No comfortable Nigerian LIVES abroad'.

Does not mean you do not have houses or resident permits or alternative citizens in case the human zoo gets into uncontrollable entropy.

But living abroad is not really for a Nigerian who can afford to live like a King with just a million naira when that amount can not pay a comfortable rent abroad.

When you become comfortable and travel abroad, you will understand. Until then, keep struggling, some how, if the Fulanis let you live, you might get my message.

Lol. I'm not in Naija.

What is the point of defaulting to insults?

Also, your comfortable people disappear from Nigeria whenever they are sick, tired, etc. Most of their money is also sent outside of Nigeria.

So what is the point of having them in Nigeria? Nigeria does not benefit from their living there.

True talk.

That's why I suggest to people to take the quickest route to permanent residence.

Whatever else you want to do is possible as a PR/citizen.

Everything else na waste of time/money.

You are not yet comfortable yet. some of us own assets abroad and only travel to come and fucck some bitches and escape the resonant frequency of known environments.

By the way, those diasporans do not really send much money, most of the diasporan cash coming into this country are proceeds of yahoo yahoo and drugs.

You don't know what you're saying.

My reply is not aimed at you but just to set the record straight. Feel free to not respond.

The NBS, among other stat bodies, have shown that we are in fact dependent on remittances.

Remittances are the largest source of FDI (Foreign Direct Investment) in Nigeria and in most African & developing countries.

As for 'fuccking b*tches', I can confirm that a lot of guys do that. December is the time for IJGB to steal abi rent your gf.
