With the way people advocate for the eradication of gender roles , would women be okay with sit at home husbands ?

Earning income is no longer location dependent, for some they don't have to leave the home to make money.

Irrespective of gender, adults should be earning an income except cases of ill health.

That's how it's supposed to be but you know we're not in an ideal world

That is not a tangible reason. Leaving a job for no tangible reason is silly. No woman should be the sole earner in a marriage while the man stays home, not making any money. Idk how he would even feel good about himself living like that.

Once the earning partmer is no longer providing because of death, ill health or divorce, what will be the fate of the one not earning?

Would he take the role a sit at home wife takes? Like cleaning the house, going to the market, cooking, laundry, etc. Or will the wife be working and paying the bills and also doing all that as well?

Can the man handle that?

An aberration in my world.

Men and women are different with different roles undecided

Very hard to believe that a man's ego will allow him.

It would take a level of domestication most husbands would never achieve to interchange a husband with a wife.

I want to leave out child birth and nurturing for the sake of argument.

If the man can ACTUALLY do the work of a stay-at-home partner, then I don’t see why not. As long as they both agree on it.

But in most cases, the woman would end up with double the work. Sole breadwinner and home keeper.

I always 100% advocate both sides pitching in on whatever is needed to keep the family going. No strict roles as in if the designated partner is unable to do it for some reason, the other partner will not do it (even if they can) just because it’s not their role. That’s messed up IMO.

Very stupid question.
Male hormones are wired naturally for power and conquest.
Taking that away from a man is like castigating him.

Men become sit at home temporary due to loss of job or illness otherwise no man with raging testosterone will agree to that.
At a point they accept due to the aforementioned, the dominance nature will still surface and we have clash of interest.

so where do we draw the line between Gender equality that's being clamored for and role reversal in the house?

They will not, they are not.

Don't ever take those people advocating for the eradication of gender roles seriously.
As a matter of fact, questions like this are the reason why sensible people don't ever take them serious.

Can't you see the way some of them are already responding to the question with ifs and hows?
It's a very uncomfortable question...

Even my mamacita Descarado is talking about male hormones... grin

There's no such thing as gender equality, and there can never be.

An equitable/fair treatment of the genders in relation to their strengths and weaknesses, is all that can be achieved.

People who throw around that phrase gender equality, simply don't know what they are asking for and just want to belong.

They always never go straight to the point , it was supposed to be a YES or NO question.

You should ask the people who think it can be interchanged in the first place.

Gender equality: Men and women are not same (interchangeable/replaceable) hence it is funny when ideologies (hello feminism) passes the boundary of common sense and start whinning that a man (hello husband) can not tell a woman (hello wife) what to do with 'her' body. grin cheesy

And don't mix up housekeeping (the strategy) to doing chores (the tasks).

Anyone can do chores, a wife keeps house which is what the OP is talking about.

Especially on a question like this.

A woman's desire to appear modern ultimately clashes with her natural programming to need a man working hard to provide for her.

They simply cannot comprehend the idea that they will be the only one working, bringing home all the bacon while there is a man sitting at home doing all the chores and housekeeping which they rate so highly.

It's like ordering a robot to kill a human when it has been programmed to never harm humans, yet at the same time programmed to always obey human orders.
What do you think will happen to the CPU of that robot... Lol

That would be wonderful. Men would sit all day watching football and chatting with their ex girlfriends; barking an occasional command at the houseboy. Maybe by midday, we can spend ten minutes boiling rice and about ten more minutes warming last week's stew. We can then branch off at ShopRite mall for a beer with our buddies before we go and pick up the kids from school, serve them the rice and stew, help them to do their assignments, watch more soccer until late evening when our wives come back from work, then demand for money for haircut, complain that our car needs to be serviced and the tyre changed, ask them to change the burnt light bulbs, and check the kitchen plumbing. They can then go and put oil into the generator and switch it on before we go to sleep. If our wives ask for sex, we will claim we have been working all day and are tired.
