The open cage where the lions were put on display had an open roof and since the fence was high enough I reckon that the authorities perceived no risk ..except that there was a tree just by the cage which had grown taller than the cage and whose branches had spread into the cage ...so the man simply climbed the tree and used the branches to jump into the cage ...the rest is history ..

Immediately after the incident the tree was cut down ...funny enough in 2016 I paid a visit to the zoo and saw that another tree had grown in same fashion by the cage ...we no dey learn for 9ja.

A report has that the Lions retreated it had just finished eaten when the prophet came in.but when he kept moving towards it the animal pounced on him. Another thing about lion is if you meet suddenly and you become immobile without winking or shaking and you focus your eye on the animal after some time it will think you are a non living thing and move away from you.

Nah! I pictures I saw in that morning paper was not clear at all - I remember cause I was pissed about that. And the story didn't really run on tv either.

Some things have been added to the original story in order to embellish it. I remember the day as though it's yesterday. His real name wasn't Daniel. People started calling him Daniel after the incident.

Secondly, he scaled the fence of the lion's cage in order to get in. Nobody let him into the cage.

Thirdly the cage had only ONE lion in it.

My comment wasn't meant to be mockery. I was merely responding to many christians saying the ibadan zoo daniel died because he tempted God as against Bible daniel who was thrown into lion's den.

Leah did exactly what Shedrack, Meshach and Abednego did in the bible yet God didn't rescue her. What gives? As unfortunate as Leah's story was, the lesson to be gleamed is to teach and fill the minds of our kids with real life issues and less of magical stories and fairytale so they can make sound decisions at every point in their lives.

The lions were normally fed on Sundays and it happened that he came in not long after the lions were fed ,hence there was no motivation to devour him ..besides the attendants responded after first few blows that got him killed ...so they were forced into their inner cage immediately
