And what gave you the impression that the West will agree to split with the East and especially the South after the division has been ensured? Is it really going to be that easy? You sure know that the West will want to hold onto a southern unity?
Well, I prefer a Southern country than Nigeria as it is now. Still the current Nigerian Political trend will  exist in a Southern Nigerian country, though in a more subtle way.

The funny thing is that the south west may be the first to call for the Southern Nigeria to break up again. The only problem I see with the breaking up of Southern Nigeria is with the boundaries, where will the Edo and other mid-western people go? The Niger Delta, if the east breaks up, the Niger Delta will want to take Port Harcourt, and the Igbo may want to take up more coast. And then the last problem is with the world community, the double split will scare people away, especially investors, as they will see this as a very unstable area.

The issue of Port Harcourt will not be a problem as the entire old east now consist of 9 states and Anioma will form one country.

Tell me which ethnic group won't want a country of their own amidst the chaos?

There's never going to be a referendum with the above question. Thank God this only happen's on the internet.

A Southern union is more preferable than being united with the North. Go back to how we were when we were a Southern protectorate.

If Yoruba and Igbo can't see past their rivalry to rescue themselves by creating a united Southern plus Middlebelt front then they are dumber than the core-North.

Thank you! Another well thought out post.

The West and the rest of the world would support a united South than a fractured South. That is why I can't understand why some people cannot look past petty differences and united against those who oppress both people. Sometimes too much pride is very dangerous. The North has been able to dominate Nigeria for so long, because of the disunity found in the South.
