Osogbo is fast developing tho but you can't still compare it to ibadan and abeokuta .some places in abeokuta can be similar to what you have on the island in Lagos..osogbo is a nice city with good electricity and road but Don't think it can stand ibadan.. compare osogbo to abakaliki or owerri.

what do you know about the 3 cities? Nairaland is becoming something else.. Someone watches tv and sees part of a state... Then starts to compare. I've been to the 3 cities, and spent some time there.. osogbo will hardly meet abeokuta and Ibadan in terms of development.

Sounds like you are going for a trado-civilized settings.

Yes... it's the way things should be, we only need to improve or traditional ways and not totally discard of it, the legislature will include a combination of 1st class traditional rulers and elected officials.
it also ensures that power is decentralized...one of the reasons nigeria is in the shitters today is because everything is centralled in Abuja(the north).

The old ways might not work again, this is simply because the old ones that made the old days "attractive" are no more with us. Those traditional personalities have been exposed to corruption, and nothing is more enticing than corruption. So expecting them to act as in the days of old might be a wishful thinking.

Majority of the glorious edifice in Osogbo are built by the igbos living there. Yorubas lack the capacity for modern day development.

There's no single man on earth who can't be corrupted but you should also know that even Yoruba kings can be deposed by a traditional legislature..... it's the corruption of our cultures that made those roles useless.....the new system would ensure that each person is policing and accountable to each other with non having absolute power..... except the people.

Now I see why they slap you stupid Ibos all over the forum. It’s the same way some silly Ibo girl was claiming Ibos developed Lagos last week on Twitter.

How can a people who were never able to live in townships in their history before colonialism and who still live in the least developed region of Nigeria be going around and taunting other people unnecessarily? Y’all just love being killed everywhere.

Stick to Biafra and stop looking to start what you can’t finish.

Abeokuta and Ibadan have thousands of Igbos living there. Some have never been to the south east sef. There are more Igbos in Abeokuta and Ibadan than we have Igbos in oshogbo.

The Igbo population in Abeokuta and Ibadan is more than the Yoruba population in the 5 south eastern state.

Op asked a simple question, and your here typing rubbish, what concerns Igbo's population to the Op's topic?

Why are you abusing him. He is actually right, most of the beautiful edifice in Osogbo was built by igbos. Yorubas are too rural and backward to develop Osogbo to that level.

This is a sensible comment. I have been ignoring comments that want to make it seem like Osogbo as a town isn’t older than Ibadan and Abeokuta because I’m not interested in politics. Abeokuta is actually one of the newest Yoruba towns and Ibadan was mostly a war camp when Osogbo already had township status.

Ataoja crown is also older than both Olubadan and Alake’s crowns. And that is significant in understanding what beget what in Yorubaland.

So for Osogbo to modernize before both, whoever is behind it, deserves credit.

You can just conclude that by mere pictures of rallies you saw on tv on anywhere.. And there's really no basis for compairing those three cities in terms of development or ubanization.. The urban areas with mordern infrastructures in Ibadan or Abeokuta are still much more larger than in Oshogbo.. The Nelson Mandela park in Oshogbo is just about the only attractive centre in Oshogbo and so You can not conclude by mere sighting of a picture or rallies .. You really to be in Ibadan or Abeokuta to experience them.. Oshogbo is relatively peaceful & calm with a very constant electricity supply due to the location of Transmission company there.

Some good things about SW Nigeria

There is nothing Like Christian, Muslim or Traditional

There is nothing like one Yoruba state is superior to other Yoruba states

The most important thing, Yoruba's are one and will remain so.

You’re the dindinrin who thinks how to quantify how developed a city is, is based on big buildings. I don’t blame you, most of you are unexposed and Nigeria has done a job on you.

When it comes to cities, development index is based on quality of life and infrastructures.

Read this

(b) the performance of the city, and (c) urban status or urban sustainability.
The case study example of Glasgow classifies city performance indicators as follows: (1) population (mortality, fertility, population projections), (2) economic participation (employment, unemployment, vacancies), (3) poverty (access to bank accounts, children poverty, financial hardship, low-income households), (4) health (life expectancy, inability to work), (5) social capital (social inclusion, social networks, trust and reciprocity, civic participation), (6), environment (green environment, open space, air quality, recycling), (7) transport (transport volume, journeys to work and school, traffic accidents, cycling), (cool education (children education, the highest qualification obtained, the qualification of the working population, training of young people), (9) safety of local communities (overall level of crime, antisocial behavior, violence, unintentional injuries), (10) lifestyle, (11) cultural vitality (involvement in sport and cultural events), and (12) mind-set (religion, politics, involvement in the community, trust, national identity).

Full study is here: https://www.intechopen.com/books/perspectives-on-business-and-management/measuring-urban-development-and-city-performance

That’s just one case study. Osogbo has better roads, stable electricity, looks more modern, peaceful, organized, etc. I’m sure it has better schools, less thugs, it’s cheaper, etc.

So overall, it’s more developed.

kudos to you as I have seen that you are civil enough but you see ehn, that dindinrin syndrome is still evident. Check the bolded and tell me how Osogbo beats the two cities mentioned in terms of infrastructures. You see Glasgow is different from Nigeria style so you should be careful when comparing. Osogbo doesn't even have lands like that. They have good road and electricity only which is present in the other cities
