Initially I thought PEPE deserved the red card, when I watched the replay I screamed we've been just been robbed the same way Chelsea were two seasons ago.

Galatico if you don't know the rules of the game better stop posting. Malicious intent and the show of studs is the qualifying criteria and Pepe established both also the manner he and a host of others like marcelo had been carrying on was reason enough. I am surprised more were not red-carded in the game and the previous games. PLEASE WATCH THE CLIP POSTED ABOVE.

I wanted to enjoy good football and i did. I wonder why Mo should play absolutely defensive and wait for a counter. I think they have the quality of players to match them man for man. With a team of world class players, you shouldnt expect less.

I know refs tend to support Barca, but I dont think thats why they won, Madrid was too defensive as if they were scared of them. I actually wanted the game to be 11 men on the pitch to be free of controversy.

For what I know, the match against Arsenal was day light robbery. Iker the octupus got it wrong this time.

After all has been said and done both team lost today. But I was more surprised about Barcelona.

Busquets should have rolled on the floor more or could it be that Barca have trouble playing against 11 players? cheesy cheesy

Re: Must Barca Cheat To Win! by maxproxl: 3:42am On May 01, 2011
wot pepe did deserved a yellow not a red. macherano did somtn similar earlier in d match & was pardoned.
barca has always cheated for four consecutive seasons now. l dont know why. may be its because of unicef as mourinho stated.
They did it with arsenal, chelsea, inter & now real-madrid. its so painful d way referees can influence crucial games negatively.
mourinho won d champions league twice with porto & inter without controversies. its a shame on barca & gurdiola.

mourinho had a plan not to play & defend, hold barca to a draw & introduce adebayour & kaka mid-way in d 2nd half. pepe's exit changed all that. every coach has a strategic plan. how can real-madrid win at camp-nu without pepe, ramos & mourinho on d bench. its mission-impossible. even if they try hard & get an early goal, the referee will mess up d game

even as a chelsea fan, l will support man-u in d finals, d cup is comin back to england

maxpro-xl,
If you say mourinho won the champions league without controversy then you are a novice in football and probably you are one of the fanatics of chelsea that just joined theor fan base let me give you instances if you dont know of the the controversy that made mourinho won the champions league.

Mourinho may be blessed with the memory of an elephant, but he certainly chooses to use it very selectively.

Mourinho didn’t win his Champions League trophies just with “hard word, pride, effort and sweat” - he also received some favourable refereeing decisions (and fortune) along the way. In the 2003-04 edition, his Porto side were on the verge of elimination during their second round tie with Manchester United. Ahead 1-0 in the second-leg at Old Trafford, the dominant English champions had a Paul Scholes goal scandalously disallowed for a non-existent offside decision. This meant that a last-minute strike from Costinha, following a shocking goalkeeper error by Tim Howard, put Porto through 3-2 on aggregate. Mourinho didn’t complain, instead he raced down the touchline for his famous celebration.

In the 1-0 semi-final victory over Deportivo, Jose also benefited from outrageous refereeing. In the first-leg in Portugal, which finished 0-0, one of Depor’s star players Jorge Andrade was sent off for playfully kicking at former team-mate Deco. The pair unsuccessfully remonstrated with referee Markus Merk that they were just fooling around, Andrade repeating the words: “He’s my friend, he‘s my friend”. The red card had a huge bearing on the tie. Without their rock in defence, Deportivo lost the return 1-0 at home, and Mourinho’s Porto proceeded to the final where they beat Monaco 3-0.

Fast forward six years to Mourinho’s second Champions League triumph, and once again Inter’s success was not as black and white as he'd like us to think. Granted, the Nerazzurri were deserving champions, but they had their rub of the green on the path to glory too. In the second round first leg with Chelsea at San Siro, the Londoners would have probably returned to Stamford Bridge with a 2-2 draw had referee Mejuto Gonzalez awarded Chelsea a penalty for a clear last-man trip on Salomon Kalou by Walter Samuel, which could have also potentially resulted in a red card for the Argentine.

In the classic semi-final win against Guardiola’s Barcelona, Mourinho has every right to complain about Thiago Motta’s unjust red card in the second-leg that forced Inter into a heroic rearguard action in Catalonia. But he overlooks Diego Milito’s offside third goal in Milan, which was ultimately the difference between the two sides on paper.

As for Guardiola’s supposedly “embarrassing” Champions League successes, the 2009 semi-final second-leg at Stamford Bridge between Chelsea and Barca is in danger of turning into a mythical old wives' tale with Barcelona as the evil baddie. The truth is that of the five penalty claims that were turned down by referee Tom Henning Ovrebo, only one was a penalty – the clear handball by Gerard Pique. Dani Alves’ obstruction on Florent Malouda may have been inside the area, but obstruction is only a penalty offence when really serious, and this was not. The same can be said for Eric Abidal’s slight pull of Didier Drogba’s shirt before half-time, which preceded a one-second delay before the Ivorian catapulted himself onto the floor like he’d caught the plague.

In the episode involving Drogba and Yaya Toure on 56 minutes, both were wrestling each other, and even if Kolo’s younger brother did draw back the Chelsea hitman, it was well outside the area. Finally, regarding Michael Ballack’s last-gasp appeal against Samuel Eto’o, the Cameroonian may have had his arm higher than usual, but it was clearly ball-to-hand (the very top of his arm and back), while he also had his back turned. FIFA’s ‘Laws of the Game’ at the time were crystal clear on this.

It is amusing that Mourinho conveniently overlooked the fact that Abidal was wrongly red-carded on 65 minutes for a ‘professional foul’ when Anelka had tripped over his own feet. This forced Barcelona to chase the last 25 minutes of the game with just 10 men. As a result the space opened up for Chelsea on the counter-attack, and it was only after this dismissal that the stonewall Pique penalty incident occurred. It is also peculiar how Mourinho discarded the performance of referee Wolfgang Stark (Yes, the same WOLFGANG STARK from Real Madid vs. Barcelona) in the first-leg at Camp Nou. During that game, Stark waved away an excellent Thierry Henry penalty shout, failed to send off Ballack, and also harshly booked Carles Puyol, forcing Barcelona to start a left-back at centre-back, and a centre midfielder at left-back in the second-leg.

The semi-final comparison to be drawn between Chelsea 2009 and Real Madrid 2011 is that both teams played anti-football against Barcelona. While Mourinho got his tactics spot on in the first two Clasicos of April, and Real Madrid picked their moments to attack Barca, in Clasico III the Special One was far too negative and brought the problems on himself. Pepe’s red card was undoubtedly harsh, but once again Mourinho ignores the fact that his naturalised countryman should have been sent off during the Copa del Rey final a week earlier. The big decisions in Valencia went the way of the Blancos.

Mourinho must realise that, despite his genius, he cannot win every single trophy every year. That is an impossibility and he needs to accept his rare defeats with grace. To attempt to downgrade the achievements of a Barcelona side who are probably the most exciting club XI we have ever seen - and on their way to challenging the likes of Ajax 71-73, Bayern 74-76 and Milan 89-94 for the title of greatest ever club team - is truly dishonourable. To be unable to support his wild theories with facts is hypocritical and slanderous

I believe with this information you will be able to avail yourself with football history that involve mourinho because you sound like someone that just started watching football 2weeks ago.

I don't know why you are complaining, barca was shown red card before real madrid, so it's 10 against 10 and the better side won. I believe you are not supporting real madrid as a team rather you are mourinho, watched the game again and you will know the best team.

This is no topic at all, please send reasonable topics to this Forum. Marcelo said on goal.com that Real was going to do everything to beat Barca including rough tackles and challenges so whose fault is it that Pepe was sent off?

Whining JoMo said he was training with a man down and was getting ready for a situation as that so please Losers, stop complaining.

of what use is fancy football when a team fails to win. sociedal beat barca yestday. every coach has a plan. d ref was unfair to mourinho against barca. mark my words, barca will not win at wembley
Re: Must Barca Cheat To Win! by roadsta(m): 7:29pm On May 01, 2011
In football, you don't show your studs when making a tackle, that's why Pepe was sent off.
Scholes was sent off for a similar challenge on Zabaleta in the FA cup semis.
Y'all had better go learn the rules and stop complaining

nice one.
Re: Must Barca Cheat To Win! by samaru: 7:39pm On May 01, 2011
maxpro-xl,
Get me right i am not saying the ref officiating was right neither was pepe challenge a good one it does not matter if alves simulated the ref all that matters was the tackle was malicious and according to rules it is either yellow or red.there is no ref officiating that is 100% right the loser always complains and barcelona are not the complain team.
However, you said barcelona will not win in wembley lets wait and see we have not yet conclude the second leg with madrid it is when it has been concluded we will be talking about wembley and do remember that it is same MAN U we played in Rome that barcelona deal with and won the match 2-0 when they have ronaldo in his full potential.
We have depleted man u team that are scare of attacking football that is why ferdinand and owen are blaming barcelona for simulating ref when ronaldo was in their team and he took simulation as his talent none of them complains but i sense fear in them because they are coming in contact with El pulga(Messi) Saint Iniesta, the master of midfield(xavi) we have done it before in rome and we can also do it in wembley.
Finally, what prompted me to post such details about the previous happenings that favoured mourinho in his previous winning of champions league i did not do any research i watched them that was why i was able to give details.whenever barcelona loses be it ref mistake they dont complain but mourinho opens his stinking mouth to complain.
Let me give you another example in 2005 barcelona met chelsea in champions league the match was 3-3 or so could not remember the score again.chelsea had corner kick cavalho held on to valdes in the full glare of the ref nobody complains that ref supported chelsea and drogba was the one that headed the deciding goal when cavalho held on to him.
You said barcelona will not win in wembley you are not God lets wait untill may 28th God knows the winners the best team will win and hope their will not be any scuffle it will be a clean winning like the one of 2009.

@lekyar,
assuming we agree to the red card, what about the dramatic rolling of bosquet and pedro? what did the law say about players who play act just to decieve the ref? from the onset, the barca players were out to send off madrid players. it looked like a planned deal. when pedro and bosquets were rolling on the floor, we all tot they will be out for the rest of the season only for tv replays to show no contacts were made in either case. the dani alves incident was hyped. alves had to continue rolling to the extent the call for stretcher was very serious. how long did it take alves to return to the picth? let us face the facts here. when players go injured to the extent that stretchers are introduced, u and i end up seeing the players recieve some kind of treatments or even leave the pitch but we saw him bounce back in joy as the deal has been done.
the word controversy has a lot to do with for many seasons now and if it continues this way, it will not be in the interest of the club or uefa or even the game of soccer.

At best it will be a yellow and i wished the ref had flagged them for it. But that does not detract from the fact that mou's strategy was damn bad and too rough. If Barca was all about play acting how come the team is so badly depleted by injuries that the outcome against R. Sociedad was no surprise. Mou has poisoned the league with his unreasonable comments. Did you see the officiating in the last game Barca had against R.Sociedad the ref was unable to make any calls on bad tackles.

Will Manu fans and their apologists admit defeat if they come up against Barca in a tentative final and lose fair and square I doubt because from many posts on this forum the tone has already been set for a denial of the most possible outcome at wembley.

Berlin: The tactics of Jose Mourinho's Real Madrid against Barcelona last week came under more fire on Monday from Switzerland coach Ottmar Hitzfeld, twice a Champions League-winning manager with Dortmund and Bayern Munich.

UEFA on Thursday announced it had launched a disciplinary inquiry into events surrounding Wednesday's unruly Champions League semi final tie between Real Madrid and Barcelona.

One of the incidents being investigated is Mourinho's post-match outburst in which the Portuguese coach suggested referees always showed favouritism to Barcelona, who won 2-0 in Madrid to take a huge step towards the final.

"Luckily, Mourinho's destructive tactics, aimed solely at provoking and destroying the opponents' gameplan, did not work," Hitzfeld wrote in German football magazine Kicker.

"Such a way of playing does not relate to the demands of Real, it's really shameful for Real Madrid. It harms the good name and image of this legendary club."

Hitzfeld, just one of only three coaches to have won the Champions League with two different clubs - along with Mourinho and Ernst Happel, did not hide his disdain for the Portuguese coach.

"I've met him at UEFA meetings and his behaviour is faithful to his image: arrogant, haughty, chewing gum and somewhat of a boor."

"Barca should make him pay on the pitch," he said in reference to Tuesday's return leg of the semi final.

so many hypocritical, hollier than thou, c**k su**ers around here. what do you do when ure up against opponents bigger, stronger, rougher than you who do not want to compete but bully u out of a football game. knowing the referee could only brandish a red card 4 a tackle that could sideline u 4 six months. i would send the prick off. how about you?
