You not in their society. You standing afar. You do not know what their local media celebrate. You standing too far from one end to make accurate comparison.

Replacing tens of thousands of streetlights with energy-saving LED lights is “development” by any RATIONAL definition of the term, and is a huge step towards combating environmental issues and promoting SUSTAINABLE development. LED lightbulbs are non-toxic (unlike regular lightbulbs), do not contain any environmentally harmful materials (such as mercury), last significantly much longer, and do not require specialist disposal. If you folks do not understand the subject matter, at least do not highlight your ignorance by obtusely making derisive comment. Learning is a life-long undertaking. Live and LEARN!

PS: The UK company is also setting up a plant in Lagos, so FDI inflow and more JOBS IN NIGERIA FOR NIGERIANS!

Too much grammar and postulations because you want change power consuming bulb to energy saving bulbs. It doesn't require new technology, private individuals have changed to energy saving bulbs without additional cost on technology know how, but in order to claim excessive amount you are writing thesis longer than the originator of that technology.

Tar all the street for lagos first
Teach people aboit maintenance. Visit Lagosl govt offices and see imfastructural decay . Let the citizens underatand we own all properties together, hence we look after it together.
Sweep all the sands away. You will agree with me that modern developed cities arent littled with sands on tarred roads everywhere.
Proper refuse disposal should be on place.
Govt properties vandals should be fined.
You need to see how those that sell water on streets have damaged the road they sell their water.

Every year, money is being allocated for rebuilding. Less money could be allocated for maintenance.

I dey talk make everyone understand. The plenty of us wey dey Nairaland understand but the street women and men wey e concern no dey nairaland

Asking government to “teach people about maintenance”….
Is a self-indictment of the people rather than of the government.

Before the Lagos State government embarks on any road or other major project, it holds a stakeholders forum which includes local residents and leaders of the affected area. During construction, most project signboards clearly state “Your Taxes at Work”, and if there’s a commissioning thereafter residents are solicited to take collective ownership of the infrastructure. Accordingly, if residents do not protect public infrastructure, yet again it says more about the citizenry/residents than it does of the government. #TakeResponbility

Meanwhile, not quite where some of the people making comments here are writing from (or residing), but it certainly isn’t Lagos. Lagos has the Lagos State Public Works Corporation, which undertakes regular routine maintenance of roads, with its work gangs out and about on most nights, filling up potholes and tarring streets, among others. Even as we have this discussion, Lagos currently has a greater number of road projects than any other state, including new builds as well as the rehabilitation, upgrade, or expansion of existing roads.

In addition, Lagos has the Lagos State Infrastructure and Asset Maintenance Agency, which acts as facility and maintenance managers for public buildings and infrastructure, and has designated a Facilities Maintenance Officer for EACH public school (in addition to the constitution of the Special Committee on the Rehabilitation of Public Schools, to ensure a synchronized rehabilitation and maintenance program). Obviously, there’s more to do, but development is a PROCESS, and not an event! EKO O NI BAJE!! Lagos Leads, others follow.

This thing pain plenty people sha.

They know their states or political party can't achieve a fraction of what Lagos gets done with ease so they seek out any means of criticism.

They mask their pain with rabid criticism.

Thanks for the info.
But it is obvious one of US( Agency and citizens) are not doing the job well at all. Most of these lagos road repairs are avoidable. We will watch as a small ditch becomes a big one.
Thr govt havent sensitized enough. I pass a very recently tarred street where this woman sells water. The road is now bad due to the constant water spills. Everybody said nothing. This isnt the govt fault.

Ojuelegba underbridge, ikeja undebridge etc... who are responsoble for the maintenance. The lights dont even wprk anylonger. The railings are all damanged.

The govt cant do this alone. Many Nigerians just dont care
