If we had a proper federation it would not be an issue if they cultivate cannabis in ondo state. state that are not interested could criminalise it. This unitary system that we are operating is what would eventually destroy this country. 2 Likes |

channelstravel: Read about Cannabis and stop being myopic about the subject matter. He already stated it has some demerits which people abuses but the merits are more because of medicinal values and revenue generation, everyone is in support of diversifying from oil to agriculture. Irrespective of the various pressing matters at hand presently, everything can’t be put on a pause because of one retard in power, someone’s got to have foresight, Fulani caliphate will not be in power forever, Aketi is just a governor not the president, cannabis is a plant and with NDLEA, CBD and THC will be well regulated for export and utilization |

Aketi has foresight. The ban on cannabis is a repressive policy that has led people to indulge in phsycotropic substances, many smoke cow dung, sniff gutter just to get high. Cannabis has little to do with crime. Because there are criminals who neither smoke nor drink. Many people I know including myself do not smoke cigarettes even though it's not banned and it's affordable. Oyibo has a way of setting us back economically. Initially our kaikai was branded illicit gin.anyone found selling kaikai without liquor license is put to jail. Legalizing cannabis will reduce dependence on hard drugs. Countries like sweden have decriminalized cannabis yet crime over there isn't as high as we have here. Cannabis has been a banned substance in Nigeria before or since independence but it's found in every corner of our cities and towns. so of what use is the ban? Is there really a ban? Oyibo has been repressing us with their policies. If tobacco no be British - American dem for ban am. If cannabis can only be grown in europe and America dem for no ban am. 3 Likes |

Xhuntra: Generally speaking, all those who currently grow and sell cannabis in Nigeria will OPPOSE its legalization, because one of the first immediate benefits of cannabis decriminalization will be that the price of the product will drop steeply and sharply since every user can very easily grow more than enough high-quality marijuana to meet their requirements year in year out, at virtually NO cost. Obviously too, the NDLEA and police derive enormous profit from arresting and extorting weed smokers, so those law enforcement agencies would also prefer that weed remain illegal until hell freezes over. Weed is called by that name for good reason. It is EXTREMELY easy to grow, such that the instant cultivation for personal use is legalized, 99% of those currently buying cannabis will simply grow their own, both to save money, but more importantly to escape the poisonous and lethal chemicals now being added to virtually all cannabis sold in Nigeria, for reasons best known to the criminal dealers. Governor Akeredolu's initiative will surgically remove ALL criminal gangs from the business of growing and poisoning cannabis for the rest of all time, and that is why the loudest voices opposing legalization will be those who are currently profiting hugely by selling low quality, chemically contaminated weed to users who buy that crap ONLY because they are too scared of the law to grow their own supply. 2 Likes |

** He said “cannabis is a multi-billion naira industry that can help diversify the Nigerian Economy if judiciously utilised”. I hope they are not a one way traffic as they are thinking only of the "multi-billion naira industry". How about the health and social consequences of cannabis "drug" if not judiciously utilized? Careful there, please! |

That's a lie! The numbing agent in it is the important part of it, without it it's just like oregano. Nothing extracted from it. It's used for medicinal reasons just the way it is in all the places it's legalized. Southern states of the US except Florida are still fighting against it. I don't know why Nigeria needs this in a country where many are starving. It's in Nigeria you find all kind of arteries-clogging restaurants but no emergency services or even a level 2 trauma hospitals. Akeredolu wants to destroy the youths he has rendered useless further. I blame Yoruba that voted people like him. Romanoff: |

DCatt: The intoxicating agent in the cannabis plant is called THC. Tetrahydrocannabinol. It is present in the plant and flower in it's raw form. Cultivating it in it's raw form doesn't mean it will be available for public consumption. It will be sold or exported to pharmaceuticals who will extract the CBD needed for medicinal purposes in form of oil or other form. This extraction is doesn't contain the intoxicating agent. I don't know any pharmaceuticals in Nigeria who is experienced in the extractions but I know big pharmaceuticals do it and it's a big business. There are regulations for things like this. It won't be for public consumption. In short, I have seen the analysis of a genetically modified strain of cannabis with zero to no Tetrahydrocannabinol planted by a dispensary in the US. 1 Like |

The medical marijuana in the US are packaged straight from the farms and with prescription bought and smoked by the patients. It is smoked like regular weed. The only process that goes into it is if they want to get oil from it for external uses. All patients on prescription smoke it as it is. Romanoff: |
Re: Legalise Cultivation Of Cannabis, Akeredolu Urges FG by Romanoff(f): 4:56am On Jun 09, 2021 |
DCatt: Medical marijuana is different from CBD. Medical marijuana is raw weed from the plant buy CBD is processed with the THC being removed. And even with medical marijuana, pharmaceutical dispensaries sell to those with hospital cards legally. |
Re: Legalise Cultivation Of Cannabis, Akeredolu Urges FG by DCatt: 5:07am On Jun 09, 2021 |
The CBD is what you think Nigeria that has no track record of good pharmaceutical firms is capable of handling? The cbd is not sold to the public but for professionals only just like cocaine that is in many drugs but illegal to the public. When you say hospital card, does that mean prescriptions or what? Re: Legalise Cultivation Of Cannabis, Akeredolu Urges FG by Romanoff(f): 5:23am On Jun 09, 2021 |
DCatt:That's why I said we don't have big pharmaceuticals that will extract CBD. Best thing is to export to the big pharmaceuticals in it's raw form. Like crude oil, they will refund and get out the CBD. Na big business you dey see so. The card for medical marijuana is issued by the government and it shows that your doctor recommended the use of medical marijuana to manage an illness. |

Exactly! The same reason Igangan and Ibarapa people turned to sitting ducks to be killed. If regions are in charge of their policing, the security, people would know who is who in the communities and protect their people. jeffoe: 1 Like |

I wouldn't trust westen world to return the real thing to Africa especially now as it's still very new. Many states especially the red ones are still against it for a good reason I guess. I think they should make it to taba for old people for pain and maybe herbal drinks straight from farm. Honestly, African touch should be put into this and make it to fit local use. What Akeredolu is doing is going to turn Ondo and other states to Jamaica where people can't walk 5 ft without being offered weed for N100. Romanoff: |
