This country is a comic relief I swear. Imagine selling power to foreign nations, when you’re yet to enjoy stable power supply. |

Nigeria with its epileptic power supply has 'idle electricity' enough for four WA countries? Step one to keeping your sanity in Nigeria: Ignore any news about Nigeria. 2 Likes |

How can Nigeria have idle electricity with the erratic power supply nationwide. I just wish an energy expert can really enlighten us on how Nigeria can have idle electricity to sell to other countries while the country itself is in darkness because this has been going on for years it didn't just start under the Buhari's administration to those blaming Buhari. |

peniel465:But they are building a $570 million transmission line to those West African countries, so if distribution and transmission is the problem like I have been hearing why is that money not spent in Nigeria to build distribution and transmission capabilities. Or is the electricity going to be wirelessly transmitted to the four West African countries? |

Country that can't boast of 5 hrs steady power supplies is selling the small one they have to country far better than them.... buhari is an unfortunate fool |
Re: Four West African Countries To Buy Nigeria’s Idle Electricity by aikyg(m): 2:31pm On Jun 10, 2021 |
Nigeria's electricity problem is not with generation. Our problem is majorly transmission and distribution. The transmission and distribution infrastructure was built in the sixties and seventies. They are quite old and it will require a lot of money and a lot more discipline to bring it to par. GIANTPLUSHUB: |

GIANTPLUSHUB:its pretty simple,we don't have enough infrastructure to manage electricity distribution |
Re: Four West African Countries To Buy Nigeria’s Idle Electricity by Sterlingsolutns: 2:35pm On Jun 10, 2021 |
Very good question. You see, the federal government has divested from distribution chain. In my area, IKEDC is a monopolist If they are happy with you, they will fix your feeder line, get you transformer and give you electricity pole. They are significantly undercapitalized, management ineptitude, decrepit infrastructures yet they want to capture the whole of Lagos mainland just like the the other brt operator whose almost all her Chinese yutong buses are dilapidated and are still dragging more route You can not give what you don't have that is just the simple explanation and there is a need to infuse competition into the distribution chain just like the telecoms - If i don't like mtn, i switch to airtel or glo mobile. It is not rocket science planetx: |

GIANTPLUSHUB: We don’t have excess power, they want to build new plants to supply this axis and instead of supplying the electricity to Nigerians they call it unutilized as a cover up. It’s probably part of the agenda to open up Nigeria to Fulani invasion across west Africa. |
Re: Four West African Countries To Buy Nigeria’s Idle Electricity by Yusman316(m): 3:13pm On Jun 10, 2021 |
Some people will come to NL be forming educated and be calling anyone that disagree with their view on issues as illiterate, yet don't understand or know the simplest of things. Those saying how can we be supplying others power while we are in darkness should know that the problem the Nigerian power sector is facing right now is that it can not successfully store the amount of electricity it generates. Meaning the moment it takes what it can, the remaining becomes waste since there is no adequate facilities to store it |
Re: Four West African Countries To Buy Nigeria’s Idle Electricity by chukxie(m): 3:20pm On Jun 10, 2021 |
99% of the respondents on this thread were overwhelmingly 'choked' by what they read. The truth is that for years Nigeria has been supplying electricity to Niger, Benin and I think, Togo. Without mincing words, leaders and policymakers in Nigeria are some of the most heartless and greedy bastards I've ever seen or read of. China is almost half the size of Africa, yet there's constant and affordable electricity supply in every cities, towns and villages. Common electricity we no get! Shame! Little wonder oyibo dey call us brainless monkeys! |
Re: Four West African Countries To Buy Nigeria’s Idle Electricity by chukxie(m): 3:26pm On Jun 10, 2021 |
Yusman316: What's hindering the power authorities from storing the excess electricity they generate? Isn't it the duty of the govt to figure out a way to store excess electricity? Can't our leaders borrow a leaf from other countries on how to successfully store excess electricity? Our leaders are EVIL! Simple! |
Re: Four West African Countries To Buy Nigeria’s Idle Electricity by Yusman316(m): 3:44pm On Jun 10, 2021 |
chukxie:Actually it takes infrastructures which we don't have to do that At the moment our generation capacity is more than our storage capacity And don't forget that the companies that does the generation, storage and distribution are not the same It's just like producing some crops taking it to the market and not getting a buyer |

Re: Four West African Countries To Buy Nigeria’s Idle Electricity by chukxie(m): 4:01pm On Jun 10, 2021 |
Yusman316: My brother, I commend you for your response. YOU don try! Thing is whatever is beleaguering our nation's abysmal electricity supply can be fixed. Electricity supply is the bedrock of every developed country. If the Nigerian government prioritizes electricity generation, distribution and storage, the days of "Up NEPA" would cease! How does China, a country almost half the size of Africa generates solar power in the far-flung province of Xinjiang, stores it, and distributes it to other far off provinces and cities? Nigeria is a joke. 1 Like |

I'm just trying to imagine why this govt will be talking of idle electricity when all the power supply we have is obviously not enough for one state talk less of a country of over 200million people. Maybe these people are actually thinking in their minds that we're already enjoying a stable electricity of 20hrs per day, like maybe what they have on paper. It's well o |
