You just pick one out of other points and conclude on it. Is jamb supposed to be a revenue generation agency that will be competing with NIS. FIRS and the rest. U will hear how a jamb register will tell u that his achievement is how much he has made. Does that make any sense?
Asj001:
Your argument is very funny, the universities already have a quota they plan to admit each year. Even if everyone scores above 300, the universities will simply increase their cut off and the difficulty remains the same

For the benefit of serving as an income agent of govt this suggestion will not go, but for such purposes and more it can be taken twice or even 3 times in a year and remain valid for 3 years.
Like NYSC we can add more batches and even streams.

Read his suggestion again. It is the bechmark that keeps changing. Your 296 may not qualify you in Year 2019 because the benchmark is 300. Then the benchmark changes to 296 in Year 2020 and somehow you score 295, should you be failed again? They should just admit you because you have met that benchmark before. That is the point. The suggestion is spot on.

Prof Oluyede the CEO of JAMB who wants to impress Buhari Government with news of massive revenue they make for Government will not agree to this suggestion. His agenda is to generate revenue for Government from education.

If u pass JAMB, you can apply to any University that you meet their benchmark. People should not be restricted to a particular school with unrealistic benchmark.

It is not about revenue generation. For instance, SAT is about 200 dollars while JAMB is 15 dollars.
Jamb is once a year while the SAT can be taken several times until you achieve your desired score. Eventually the SAT generates more revenue than the JAMB

The drawback of the SAT is that you will need insane scores to get into any competitive university because you are also competing with terrific scores from previous years.
On top of that, indigent(poor) students who cannot afford taking the exam multiple times like their rich counterparts will be at a great disadvantage.

Do you see why JAMB is better for Nigeria
Candidate can take Jamb twice or thrice a year instead of once since this is the bone of contention. What farouk pointed out wasn't the price but the manner in which jamb is conducted

Managing admission process has since become a secondary concern for JAMB. The body has turned into income generation agency overnight for the government and now compete with the Customs, NPA etc l, and openly declare profits like every other eye service agencies of the current government.

So I seriously doubt if this novel idea would get the attention of the current board of JAMB.
The post isn't complete. He also made mention of JAMB to conduct the exams quarterly if the issue of revenue is one of its primary objective

Must we copy anything America.
Only God knows how much destruction this pained goon writer would have done to our education system if he had been given minister of education after that 2015 elections. Since Buhari refused him the position he employed himself as ardent hate sprayer against Buhari government. Push him a little bit forward, and out of excessive hatred you will hear him ascribing to Buhari being originator of this annual event going on since establishment of Nigeria higher education system.
When a friend of mind used to call him an intellectual idiot who always goes with pride that he can write English better than the queen's people, I never used to believe him. Until the day he attempted to defense himself when his lie that Dasuki has been murdered in prison custody was burst. When asked the source of his earlier position, the idiot replied that he heard some facebook followers of his discussing it. A Professor for that matter!

Very Good idea, but this govt can not buy into such ,with all this income generated by JAMb and other exam bodies they are still looking for how to borrow.

Simple...because Nigeria is designed to kill you, to extort you and to frustrate you

When you realise that JAMB is simple a revenue generating MDA, then you know why they'll conduct the exam annually

Their best interest is not the students getting into the university, it is the revenue they collect for JAMB fees and sales of scratch cards and licensing for JAMB centres. It is all about money...simples!!!

I support doing Jamb every year because it keeps the student school ready. Imagine passing jamb 5 years ago just to use it this year meanwhile you haven't opened a book atall in the interim.

If your argument above is to be taken serious then waec and neco should be written yearly as well!
The fact that we've been doing something same way over time and we're not seeing tangible results clearly attests to the more reason we need to change course.

Op , it's a laudable one from kperogi

Re: JAMB: Farook Kperogi's Suggestion On UTME by perrymike: 11:24am On Jun 29, 2021
JAMB is a cash cow for the federal government and so, like other commercial agencies of government, must post mega billion revenue yields yearly. The body won't meet its given target if it goes by Prof Kperogi's well thought out recommendations.

I once proposed that Jamb should be valid for x years for x scores,

For Eg if you score 241 to 280 your score should be valid for two years. If you score 281 and above your score should be valid for 4 years.

This will promote meritocracy in education sector. But I had a second thought if this is done. Technically only the Southern Nigeria will be the major beneficiaries of this approach. Knowing how this country is bent down on killing meritocracy just to accommodate a particular region even if it means burning down the country. They will not adopt such approach because most northerners will be rewriting jamb too.

Rubbish idea.
Then you have 5million accumulated admissions.
But most importantly each year JAMB ensures the same standard of test are used to assess every aspirant.
What a student that passed JAMB 5 years back but has been at home since because of lack of space, may have known then, may have evaporated after 5,4,3 or even 2 years of redundancy.
Yearly JAMB test is still the best.
And if it evaporated, is it not the students fault? His or her inability to get admission in 5 years time will largely be from such student. So him or her should welcome the repercussion. That doesn't justify that they should be milking parents.
What about other factors like, computer faults, centre result cancelling, if such occurs now, the students won't have choice than to seat for another exam following year. Had it been such student can use any of past results, won't such reapply for post UTME using former result. Imagine you that posted this scored 321 last year, but wasn't given admission, and you retake another Jamb this year but all the students' results from.tge centre were cancelled, while you have a great 321 you can use. Won't you be pained? Think about it.

Do you know there is what they call PUTME?
Since most schools conduct their own entrance exams, laying unnecessary emphasis on UTME is going overboard.
Two years at that is still relatively okay...
JAMB's highest decision-making body would just not agree to this because of the revenue been generated from the yearly conduct of the exam, which is self-serving.
