What Does It Mean To Bear Fruits?

It's no longer a surprise that the actual meaning of bearing fruits was lost to even the most respected of church leaders in the nation and beyond, because this is something i've observed a long time ago. I noticed how most church leaders interpret the things or sayings of God through a worldly mindset, despite that the ways of God were different from the ways of the world, hence it's expected that they'd get many of them wrong.

That includes the saying of Jesus concerning bearing of fruits, which most interpret to mean church growth from the worldly perspective, for instance, increase in numbers or quantity of church members.

However the right interpretation of fruit bearing from the perspective of the kingdom of God can be gotten from interpretation of the parable of the sower given by Jesus:

Luke 8:11 (KJV)

Now the parable is this: The seed is the word of God.

Luke 8:15 (KJV)

But that on the good ground are they, which in an honest and good heart, having heard the word, keep it, and bring forth fruit with patience.

Hence from the perspective of kingdom of God we can see that bearing of fruits has to do with the keeping of God's Word which was sown Into someone's heart. So it's not church growth in the sense of the increase or growth in the numbers or quantity of church members, but in the increase or growth of the Word of God sown into people's lives which grow by its obedience.

Hence church growth can be taking place from the worldly perspective, where it's all about the increase in quantity or numbers of church members and resources etc., but the church is not bearing fruits in Truth, and from the perspective of the Kingdom of God because the Word of God is not growing or increasing, as the people were not keeping the Word of God.

For the church to bear fruits according to the right definition of that phrase, the Word of God must grow and multiply via its obedience in people's lives, otherwise the growth of the church would just be worldly and not as it in the kingdom perspective of bearing fruits.

Hence it was said in the early church that the Word of God increased by the obedience of God's Word.

Acts 6:7 (KJV)

And the word of God increased; and the number of the disciples multiplied in Jerusalem greatly; and a great company of the priests were obedient to the faith.

That's the glaring difference between the growth of the early church and today's church growth. In that church, the Word of God was increasing and growing not just the numbers of people, because they were obedient to the Word of God, hence they were truly bearing fruits.

But today you have church growth that is more or less, just growth of numbers of people, not the growth or increase of the Word of God, hence, although the church is growing in the worldly sense, in the spiritual sense, the church is hardly bearing fruits, because the Word of God is hardly kept by the members of today's church.

Moreover, bearing fruits in the right interpretation of God's Word means to bear good fruits, because people can also bear bad fruits, hence Jesus said:

Matthew 7:17-20 (KJV)

Even so every good tree bringeth forth good fruit; but a corrupt tree bringeth forth evil fruit.
A good tree cannot bring forth evil fruit, neither can a corrupt tree bring forth good fruit.
Every tree that bringeth not forth good fruit is hewn down, and cast into the fire.
Wherefore by their fruits ye shall know them.

Hence its only when people bears good fruits by the obedience of God's Word that they are truly bearing fruits, not when they bear bad fruits by being disobedient to the Word of God and working Iniquity, because bearing bad fruits equates to be fruitless or bearing no fruit because the bearing fruit is with respect to the obedience of the Word of God.

So bearing fruit in the right interpretation of the Word of God is hinged on the obedience of the Word of God, because the Word of God is the sown seed, hence it can only bear fruits when it is obeyed!

God bless.

What kind of fruits are you bearing?

Good or bad ones?

It's not just about bearing fruits but good fruits, for bearing no good fruit equates to not bearing fruits at all.

God bless.
