Jesus said:

Luke 8:15 (KJV)

But that on the good ground are they, which in an honest and good heart, having heard the word, keep it, and bring forth fruit with patience.

Hence to bear fruit or "good" fruits precisely is not just something imaginary as some assume or preach, but the obedience of the Words of Jesus, the Sower of the seed, which is a work of righteousness.

Jesus also said any tree that doesn't bear (good) fruits shall be cut down and cast into the fire!

Matthew 7:19 (KJV)

Every tree that bringeth not forth good fruit is hewn down, and cast into the fire.

That means that to bear fruits which means to obey the Word of God, a work of righteousness, is essential for every human being, because the fire in this case is an illustration of hell fire. So that means that everyone who doesn't have any good fruits/works of righteousness or who doesn't obey the Word of God shall perish and not have eternal life.

That's what Christ's gospel of grace which gives eternal life teaches.
