He has been a fool before his arrest, you are into illegal occupation and you flaunt your wealth, what it means is that you are telling the authority to arrest you.
He should have learnt his lessons from frank lucas of the movie american gangster.
He wore only suits everyday until his wife bought a 25000$ fluffy coats for him and he wore it to a boxing game arena. That was how his downfall starts.

Let's be honest with ourselves here, there are still a lot of guys like Hushpuppi in Nigeria , the only difference between him and them is that most of them have businesses that act as FRONTS for their dubious sources of income.
I can surely tell you that the likes of obi cubana and co probably got their first millions through shady means but quickly invested those monies in various businesses that made them rich.

self.

I don't actually blame him, because everybody is a thief in this country, look at the presidents son, what's his income that he can afford a bike of 10m?

Okay...

God really did a wonderful work using Hushpupp-y. Who among you has been privileged to be an instrument of fulfillment for a prophecy?

My Bible tells me that God cannot be mocked. See a crook who lived off people's money, who could do anything to attain fame and the status of a wealthy man, blatantly brought God into the picture.

God simply took his prayers, retouched it and answered it in reverse.

The term God is relative
God depends on the state of mind of who wants to make his own God from what he feels God is

Money is his God

I agree.... The guy's ego and the need to always show off was the reason why he is in jail now.

For a person with dubious source of income, he attracted too much attention to himself.

What he was supposed to do immediately he started making it big would have been to start up a chain of businesses or some other investments , so that he'll have something to use as backup in case anyone asks how he got his wealth.

Let's be honest with ourselves here, there are still a lot of guys like Hushpuppi in Nigeria , the only difference between him and them is that most of them have businesses that act as FRONTS for their dubious sources of income.

So whatever Hushpuppi is suffering right now, he brought it upon himself.
100%, he's is a wasteful, unwise idiot..... See e money ,and the likes..

Most Nigerians are innate criminals and this is evident in the fact that they feel Hushpuppi's crime was showing off when in reality his crime was that he committed fraud.
grin grin
I think the problem is that most Nigerian youths now seem to see fraud (particularly, internet fraud) as just a smart way to make money, rather than seeing it as being equivalent to stealing. And this is one of the reasons for the proliferation of yahoo-yahoo.

Showing off or not on social media, how could you be putting people in life time sorrow through fraud and expect happiness. The spirit of those you've put in sorrow will never allow you to experience happiness again, same to those who are living in dubious ways and never being caught.

He'd still be balling if not for his addiction to social media show-off

I can never understand people who feel compelled to stir up envy in others using their material possessions...the point of life's luxuries is to live an easier life, not to feed off other people's negative emotions.

We all came here with nothing and nobody will take so much as a pin away from this life.

Well said

They all believed and still believes that husspupu was just a smart business man who his only mistake was showing off "his wealth" other people's stolen hard earned money. Husspupi himself also believed that God blessed him with other people's hard earned money.

That is the nigerian crminal mindset.

you are right. very illogical notion. We of course know the source of his poverty. His parents were poor.

you hit the nail on the head . Someone was saying he is in jail becos of ego and showoff - as if anybody will come and drag you to jail if you show off your legally acquired wealth .

A criminal giving motivational advice. grin anyway, atleast he will be eating fried bacon, 2 boiled eggs, 2 toasted sliced of bread and drinking O'grey tea every morning in American penitentiary. And roasted potatoes, boiled rice with grilled chicken or steak for lunch. The type of food most nigerians will dream of.

Trust me, i know.

That's the result of the prosperity gospel promoted by new generation churches. It's all about fast acquisition of money without regard for the source and then showing off as a testimony of God's blessings.

Imagine this instagram post having over 300,000 likes. That's 300000 potential criminals.

And yhu just have to bring gospel into this. I do not understand what yhu guys have against the church......is hushpuppy now a preacher?

Resist the urge to always spew rubbish and face the issue at hand.

As an adult, if yhu commit crime because yhu were pressurised to do so by the extravagant life style of scammers then yhu need to have yhur head examined. It's either yhu are sick in the head or yhu a scammer waiting for an opportunity to manifest.
