You should help by stating your field as this matters a lot. Health and IT specialist are hardly found complaining of sponsorship scarcity.

Funny enough, I'm neither in IT nor Health. My background is Sustainability ( Science-Policy Interface). The UK is a service economy and the world headquarter for consultancy. I believe there's massive opportunities for everyone.

Myself and my dependent will look up jobs in Brighton.

Thanks for the heads up

Dygeasy:
Eastbourne is your best bet as it's closer to Sussex Uni and Brighton's city center as a whole. You also don't want to be too far away from job locations/opportunities. Brighton offers that in abundance.

I have lived in worthing and I don't know why that town is unreasonably expensive. I guess because it's close to the sea, quiet and a retirement town. Cost of houses (rent) is even more than south east London. Southampton and Brighton are also expensive. You can try East Preston, Goring by sea, Lancing, and littlehampton as these areas are cheaper and you will find more new built houses there.

It's a CUSTOMER SERVICE ADVISOR (Band 2) role and yes it's a full time Job

Oh I see. The salary for that band won’t allow you to be sponsored.

However if you could apply for band 3 HCA role, the salary meets the threshold for you to be sponsored.

What’s the salary threshold for sponsorship for NHS and non-NHS

Sometimes this UK will frustrate you….

Been trying to move house since, got the one I like and credit check and referencing was carried out, which came out good but the agent is still asking for a guarantor due to the fact that wifey hasn’t been self-employed for up to a year and husby salary ranges between £28,407 - £30,000 as a permanent employee….

Una go dey increase rent but refuse to increase salary and make renting difficult for residents…

Shown payslips and rental history with good credit worthiness BUT all these oversabi House agents still dey ask for 2 Guarantors… Who wan guarantee person wey dey no know…

Olagbara ooo…. Never had a good sleep since yesterday…

best to not limit yourself to sponsorship jobs only as UK experience counts 0 while waiting

You can get into a coy, prove yourself valuable and then they can sponsor wink

does that mean if one is flying Turkish Air, one needs a transit visa to go via Istanbul to UK? even if one isn't leaving the airport?

Progressivegee:

You do not need a transit visa if you are laying over at casablanca. Transit visa is only required if you will be laying over at any of the EU countries' airport

did you have to register your card first? I intend to renew mine & apply for my child's passport and hopefully pick the same appointment date....

is that a realistic plan?

I am flying with airmaroc into Heathrow by next week. I am to carry some food stuff with me as well but I heard the NDLEA in our airports are refusing people from carrying Stockfish and some food stuff even medicine. How true can this be?

I also had appointment for 11am. I got there at few mins past 10. There was a large crowd, but I still managed to get everything finished by 1:30. So you should be fine.

They had a tally ticket machine that made the process orderly… but the thing stopped working just before I had almost completed my process and vawulence was about to break out as I was leaving grin cheesy

Sweetheart. Nothing annoys me more than someone’s who’s been lucky not understanding others pains OR making it look like others aren’t hardworking/lucky enough. I’m one of the most privileged and lucky Nigerians in the Uk, worked just 4 years here and on 140k all before 30 but I never act like others aren’t working hard enough or lucky enough or feel their pain. I’m the exception, not the rule.

Because I exist doesn’t meant others don’t. Because you can’t relate doesn’t mean you shouldn’t be empathetic/sympathetic neither does it allow you to discount the pain is the majority.

And for someone that steadily recruits my profession, 80% of corporate companies don’t sponsor due to fear or lack of understanding of the regulations. So unless someone is applying to the big 4 or top IT, NHS or govt.. there’s likely no sponsorship.

Ok.

Congrats on your 3 offers.

No sweetie,

I'm not belittling other people's experience. I made it clear in my post that I don't know if it's just me being lucky or if others are failing to do their homework.

For a bit of background, I don't know many Nigerians in the UK aside from the ones in my school. Many of them that I speak with don't even have a clearly defined career plan and are always open to anything, which doesn't make sense to me, really.

Most of them are doing their masters as a means to "japa" and not because they are truly passionate about the course and want to gain specialist skills in their area of endeavor.

The UK has a very competitive job market, and the more specialized and niched you are, the higher your chances. You will really struggle if you are an average/regular candidate as an immigrant.

Secondly, all big firms have sponsorship licenses, which means they can sponsor any candidate if they really want him/her. During all my interviews, I make it as clear as possible that my first option is the firm (I will give them reasons why I believe their firm and the UK in general will offer me access to the world). I then go on to make it clear that I am an international student and will not be able to stay back in the UK without visa sponsorship. I'm open to moving back home and continuing my stakeholder engagements."

For permanent roles most employers want you long term ... so if your visa doesn't have a long term path then they are hesitant to take you....because let say your visa is post study and they don't offer sponsorship what the point taking you when you have to stop in 2 years time... kind of pointless

But if the job offers to sponsor (COS) then you are good to go if offered

My wife is still in Nigeria. She is lawyer, she is in custody of the documents. I have also engaged the services of agent around the area the property is situated.

I believe you then.
I once made a suggestion on how best to sell the land. but nevertheless, how do you want the buyer to access the documents? Since you're in English land with your supposed documents and what you're selling is somewhere in Ondo?

No. One doesn't need a transit visa when laying over at instabul but if the flight has 2 stops in Turkey, one at Instabul and Ataturk, which is on the European side, then a transit visa will be required for that particular stop

I need advice please. I got an internship role in Development Engineering, to assist my employer with research on an ongoing project. My school will be the one paying my salary. The Job is for two and half months(10 weeks). The issue is that, I currently work in a care home(two nights per week). Doing the two jobs will make me exceed the 20hrs work restriction. I don't want to decline the internship role because I believe it will be good on my CV, but it's just for two and half months, neither can I quit the care job just for a short term job. God knows I need both salary. The pay on the internship is 1£ pound higher. And I have also been looking for an opening that will take me out care job.
Please how do I approach this, because I am expected to resume the internship role next week.

True. But not NDLEA. There's an Agric export something or other agency.

Also, the airline itself refuses to carry food.
