It irks me to realize my weak carpenter grandfather in the village who buys trees and turns them into logs, then to chairs used for public schools will have to be paying taxes...after he pays taxes indirectly by buying the trees, transporting himself, buying machines, buying fuel, paying rents, and feeding.

In another news, after Ndubuisi gets a car for Uber on hire-purchase, after he pays taxes buying fuel, buying tickets, bribing soldiers and policemen on the road, evading accidents, and dodging more portholes than roads...he will still have to pay the extra taxes for bearing the appellation of being a taxi driver. However, those having about fifty cars for entourage alone are called senior citizens.

In saner climes, the rich understand that he pays more taxes because of more assets. In Nigeria, the rich rejoices that the poor augments their assets with their taxes.

Welcome to a country that releases budgets every year but doesn't balance accounts after the financial year.

Welcome to the Fraudral Republic of Nigeria.
in essence carpenter and taxi drivers should not pay tax but enjoy govt subsidies made from tax of the elites??
They can bore 50 children's and send them to public schools that's almost free after being subsidies by the rich?
May God answer your indirect prayer of being poor so you won't pay tax.

Everyone should REPORT to the tax agency.

If you make a minimum income, say N50,000 a month, then you should be paid back any taxes that were taken from you. You should also be paid back a proportion of your sales tax.

This is done in Canada, USA, etc. Everyone reports their income, even if it is zero. Then those with low income get taxes back, sales tax rebate, qualify for emergency funding, etc.

Exactly. This is a HUGE issue that the legislature seems to ignore.

Market people, taxi drivers, ordinary businesses pay levies. To Unions, LGA, local Chieftancies, etc.

They already pay 'tax'.

Paying tax with nothing to justify it. So crazy the other time I was in the east. I was shocked to see how dilipdated the road that lead to main market was. All the taxes and daily collection that state govt collect from traders and driver's but still can't fix a road that lead to biggest market in West Africa.
Black man want to collect without given anything in return to justify his collection.

The Vat already been paid, highinflation is not enough?
Will the government also reduce their spending? Cut their wages? Fleet of cars? Stop sending their children abroad? Medical tourism?

How much is Buhari using to build a clinic in aso rock again?
How much did the presidency budget for feeding again?

They should rather tax your cars once it exceeds two cars. But they will not reason that way because they will be heavily affected. They only think of roasting the poor.

Illiteracy is a bad disease

Almost every Nigerians pays tax yet we get no value for such tax

We pay VAT

We pay 50naira stamp duty charges on every credit of 10k & above i.e whenever you bank account is credited with sum of 10k Naira and above, sum of 50naira goes to government pocket

High import duty

Increase in pump price

Etc

The most embarrassing part was that we get nothing I return despite paying such tax

No good road

No stable power supply

Poor healthcare

Poor security of lives and properties

Etc

It's good to pay tax to support government but it must be plain and opened

This government is milking masses by collecting taxes secretly with nothing to show for it yet they wants more

Read the news and see numbers or suicide cases we are reading on pages of newspaper, many Nigerians are very sad presently and have lost hope

Let the government cut down their excessive expenses to save this country

The amount of money spent on administation every year is too much & unnecessary

What do you call the numerous amounts paid by the SMEs to local and state governments? Most of them pay daily to different agents of the government at motor parks, markets and shops etc, also different ministries invade the streets to demand one tax or the other else they seal up you ur business!

Most SMEs do not survive beyond 1-3 years in business in Naija because of government hash policies, they pay rent, light bill yet still spend much on generators, multiple taxations and so much wahala that they have to pack up the business because they run on deficit, yet one mugu who lives free and eat fat on tax payers sweat can spill trash from his mouth.

We should tackle that first before talking about taxing more and More with nothing to show.

Do you know how much Buhari is using to build another clinic in aso rock? Where is the money coming from? The taxpayers? Is that what they want to use it for?

All those countries pay their executives and legislators big salaries? They drive in 20 convos? They go for medical tourism?
And what’s the standard of living in those countries compare to Nigeria? World capital of poverty
