Why are we taxing like advance countries? It is only when it comes to tax that will compare? What’s the GDP per capital of those advance countries compare to the world capital of poverty.
Our politicians should Also sell books, seminars and the likes to Nigerians and stop living on taxpayers money!!
And what about medical tourism? Fleets of Cars, do they also do like that like our politicians do here in the world capital of poverty?
You want to tax Like advance countries, they should also follow through in other processes too..

Nothing you've stated justifies not paying tax, in as much as we know our government is corrupt and inept, if we ever want to stop them from borrowing money or further ruining the nation for our children and grandchildren then we must pay tax, everyone! Even if you are making just 100,000 Naira a year you must be taxed, what we should be discussing is marginal tax rate. A carpenter should not be at the same tax bracket as a doctor or bank manager. Dangote should not be paying the same tax rate as small and medium sized businesses, our politicians mess up because they represent a messed up society. Our mentality and culture needs a rude awakening, as great as America or the UK looks, without taxation they'll go bankrupt!

But why is it now that If we don’t tax much, then we result to borrowing? How did other administration do it without taxing much and borrowing our future away? Buhari is a curse!!
And what does VAT stand for? Nurtw, what is their job? They don’t collect some payment Already?

You’re clearly investing too much of your emotions into this, getting upset isn’t going to reduce the amount of taxes you’ll have to pay.

Who told you other administrations didn't do it? obasanjo did it, Jonathan did it and Buhari blew it up! Same goes for America, Bush did it, Obama blew it up and Trump & Biden continued it. Borrowing is not the problem if you have something to back it up but when you have nothing and just keep borrowing with no credible plan to pay it back then WAHALA DEY!

Honourable, it's quite unfortunate that such trash could come out from you, by the grace of God, this term will be your last at the NA.

How much tax have you paid from your Jumbo salaries and allowances, and from your constituency allowances that you've done nothing. Shame on you. You won't suggest having a good health facility and that all your children schooling abroad should come back to Nigerian schools.

The loans they all collected is not up to what Buhari collected in under 6 years. And they didn’t tax much How come? And we are still borrowing? And taxing so much?

How much is Buhari administration using to service debt? Is that the plan they have to pay back?

We do have a marginal tax rate, it starts at 5% for anyone earning under N300,000 a year. And tops out at 24% for anyone earning over N3,000,000.

Hon Fakeye,

It's a pity that you are actually representing a constituency. I feel very terrible reading this trash from the so called hon member.
What exactly are you trying to say? That these artisans don't pay taxes? The carpenter, okada, keke, taxi riders pay indirect taxes by way of city and union taxes. Are you aware of that? And by the way how much do you Mr. Fakeye pay in taxes? The last time I check it was only your basic salary that was taxed, which amount to nothing. You're trying to seek relevance from you dumb, gullible followers and party member. Your grammar sucks too!!

Of course, none of them were faced with Covid 19, global stagnation and complete and total chaos. Yes Buhari deserves to be blamed but let's be objective as well, WE NO DEY PRODUCE ANYTHING, even the oil wey we dey do gra gra on, we are no longer a major player in the market. So if we no borrow, wetin go happen? Majority of Nigerians don't pay income tax because majority are either unemployed or self employed, so if we can't generate adequate income through taxation, how we no go borrow?

Before the COVID which was last year, he already borrowed more than the other pasts government. Only Buhari, 2 recessions under 5 years. And what about the VAT and other tax he already put it in place? Not enough?

How did the other administration manage the “income tax” then?

It irks me to realize my weak carpenter grandfather in the village who buys trees and turns them into logs, then to chairs used for public schools will have to be paying taxes...after he pays taxes indirectly by buying the trees, transporting himself, buying machines, buying fuel, paying rents, and feeding.

In another news, after Ndubuisi gets a car for Uber on hire-purchase, after he pays taxes buying fuel, buying tickets, bribing soldiers and policemen on the road, evading accidents, and dodging more portholes than roads...he will still have to pay the extra taxes for bearing the appellation of being a taxi driver. However, those having about fifty cars for entourage alone are called senior citizens.

In saner climes, the rich understand that he pays more taxes because of more assets. In Nigeria, the rich rejoices that the poor augments their assets with their taxes.

Welcome to a country that releases budgets every year but doesn't balance accounts after the financial year.

Welcome to the Fraudral Republic of Nigeria.

Abeg shut up and go pay tax.

''after he pays taxes indirectly by buying the trees, transporting himself, buying machines, buying fuel, paying rents, and feeding.''

ARE YOU KIDDING ME?

Those expenses ARE NOT TAX. Those are his personal expenses.

How is he paying tax by ''feeding''?

Or by ''transporting himself''?

Ignorant people. And you got over 120 likes for your ignorant, dumb post.

You people want an advanced country but you don't want to pay for it.

In the US, UK etc people pay nearly half their income out in tax.

You are an ignoramus.

Ignorant people like you open your mouth wide and say everybody should pay tax forgetting that everybody includes students and the unemployed.

Also in all developed countries there are people that are exempted from paying tax because their income is so low.

Their govt actually gives them numerous incentives to help them grapple with life.

You must be a descendant of a BMC

Yes, like I said desperate times calls for desperate measures. We produce nothing, there is nothing to back our currency, our economy. The oil we focused on is no longer as lucrative as before. Majority of Nigerians still do not pay income tax so what should he have done? A sane country would fix the refineries, mandate local production etc but the zoo does what the zoo does so let's not be surprised that we are in this mess. This is not a failure of Buhari alone, it is failures upon failures that has existed since 1999.

What exactly did they pull off? When we compare Obasanjo's administration to Jonathan's we can see the failure and suffering. Same way we compare Jonathan's to Buhari's. Borrowing has been increasing so has suffering, it is a culmulative effect of bad leadership.
