I know you think you are being objective, but this is a very bad example, just because someone cleared a medical bill doesn't mean, a guy you met less than a month with no visible plan spend such amount of money on you and you don't think its suspicious.

Look at it very well, a guy that can easily spend such amount of money shouldn't be in a rented apartment, shouldn't be in a low income environment, should be heavily invested in something worthwhile, except he doesn't care because he assume the money will always flow, which means its not legitimate.
