Hello House, your candid advice is needed here urgently.
I have been using an inverter for a while now but I want to know the specific loads it can power conveniently. The specs of my inverter/battery combo is:

INVERTER
Maker: Mercury
Model: Radiant 1000
Input: 220Vac-240Vac,50/60Hz, 8A max, 10
Output: 220Vac-240Vac,50/60Hz,10,1000VA,600W
Battery; 12VDC

BATTERY
SEC Ind Battery Co.
Sealed VRLA AGM
CELLYTE 12FTA 155

Battery Charging
Float Voltage: 12.25Vpc +/- 0.01Vpc @ 20-25C
Max charge Voltage: 2.35Vpc +/- 0.01Vpc @ 20-25C

I also would like to know if it can carry a SCANFROST REFRIGERATOR with the following specs:
Scanfrost Fridge
Voltage: 220-240V
Frequency; 50Hz
Input power; 68W
Refrigerant: R134a 60g
Volume: 130L
Climate Class: T

The inverter specialists in the house, your advice is sought here. Thank you
the inverter can carry the fridge but it will not start the compressor. when you plug the fridge the inverter will go off. you need at least 800w to start that compressor

E go start am if the guy parallel 2 batts. Only say the inverter go faint small o. The fridge na small one now. But make the guy buy 1.5KVA or higher to enjoy those stuffs. No mind my typo abeg.

my brother I have tried it but it didn't work. it only worked on nepa. in my case if the fridge was on and light went off the fridge will still be working because the compressor was already started. for the same inverter to start the compressor on a backup mode na lie. I had no option than to change it to 1200w which can even start the same fridge with 14ah battery (2 ups battery 12v/7ah each ) I did this research in 2010. you fit still do your own

I use for pieces of 155ah@ 24v. That is 310ah @ 24v. So i honestly advice u go for the 260ah. You'll get far longer back up hours. But its gonna take a long time before they get full. Do u have like 12hrs of un-interruptted nepa? Else Set it to high current to reduce the charging time.

will the 1.4 kva inverter be able to effectively charge the 2*260 Ah batteries? or will the batteries die a slow death as they gradually become sulphated?

abunafiu:

these questions remind me of my undergraduate days. Answer all questions. No option..... Lol.
Q1. 2.5> 1kva.
Q2. Sukham, genius. Price?
Q3. Depends on the load. The higher the load, the lower the back up time.
Q4. Any 200ah batt you can afford. Eg zenith.
Pls read all previous post. You will find all answers 2 ur questions.

Thanks for your reply bro , please can you tell me where i can get the 200AH batteries and what is the price range ? where can i get an affordable 2.5kva inverter and what is the estimated price range as well as expected back up time on mid level load /usage. Sorry for asking too much questions ,Abeg no vex grin grin

I am using sukam 800va and 200ah deep cycle battery and I can use it for 3 to 4 hours.(it a used battery but I added acid to it though dry cell battery but its working)

To make the inverter more useful; change all your bulbs to 15watts or 11watts instead of the normal 60-100watts bulbs. It will save more energy.

Always switch off any appliances and bulbs you don't really need.

I spend like #500 now a week on petrol unlike when I use to spend above 2k. I don't need to on my Generator even if it is only my phones I want to charge

You are wise man. I suggest you change ur battery when ure buoyant. If possible buy additional batteries and an external INTELLIGENT charger for additional back up time and zero fuel cost. Enjoy.

Hi house, I jst wanna find out whether dere is a limit in battery to what an inverter can take, like what is the limit for a 2KVA inverter (assuming there is a limit)...right now I have 2 batteries wich r 200AH each, finkin' of doubling it, & mayb even doubling that again in d future. Thanks

There is no limit it can takes, the challenge you will likely have is charging problem if you don't have a regular PHCH, you will not notices now but likely after six month before you start noticing it. But if you use less of the inverter then you are good to go but if you use it well my brother charging will be the issue

Stop guessing, you just said it all, aside 68w there is another wattage that should be written that is what is needed to start the compressor but if the compressor has started working the inverter you are talking abt here will run it as you claim

tonyzaks: good day every1. i've a question; would it be appropriate to pair an external battery charger with an inverter to have a given amp.
my inverter has 10 amp charger and there is an 8 amp battery charger, can i mix the two simultaneously in order to charge my battery bank?
over and out.

Yes connect them both if they are same voltge, you have no problem it will increase the charge current
Re: Inverter Users : Lets Have Your Experience by femiolorun(m): 6:37pm On Aug 21, 2013
hopefullman:
how is 1.5kw equivalent to 2.5kva?from P=IVcos¤.where p=truepower(watt),IV=aparent power(s=IV volt ampere),COS¤=powerfactor.the maximum theoretical power factor a device can achieve is 1.thus p=svcos¤
p=ivcos¤
1.5kw=IV*1
IV=1.5kw/1
=1.5kva
thus 1.5kw inverter ~= 1.5kva

For those confused abt kva and kwa. The simple conversion is to convert kva to kwa multiplt thr number by 0.8 while to convert kwa to kva divide by 0.8 for example 800kva will now be 800kvax0.8 equall 640watt so to determine inverter to use do your calculation yourself on your load before going to market if you tell them you need 2000w make sure you are not given 2000va they are not equall

Re: Inverter Users : Lets Have Your Experience by femiolorun(m): 7:42pm On Aug 23, 2013
The load you specified can only be determined practically as in the first time you used the sprinter battery on said load with the inverter, the hour it takes you, is what you will continue to use till your battery start failing, if your reduced your load you tense to have longer hour of useage.

But for the charging aspect if you have a good 10amp charging system and your battery is low, it will takes you 3hours to charge at 220volt but if less you tense to 2hour. This is a practical result

200amp battery give you double hour 100amp will give you on same load.

I currently have 2 100Ah batteries which I use with my 1.4 kva sukam inverter. I am thinking of buying 2 additional 260Ah or 200 Ah batteries. However, I have some worries.
How can I maintain 2 separate battery banks with the same inverter without having to connect and disconnect wires and terminals every time air want to change over? Are there any solutions eg similar to a knife or changeover switch.
Can the Sukam inverter with 13A charging current effectively charge 2 of the 260Ah batteries connected in series?

If it can't effectively charge the batteries, which 3 stage intelligent battery charger and of what rating will you recommend?

If your charger is the good type that can deliver up to 20amp it will charge it, if not it will not charge it for 3hours, also if your gen is the one they sell for 27k then you are good to go but if it is the common one my brother it will not,

If your 100amp battery are new, why no join it with the two new 260amp you want to purchase, this will give you a total cuRrent of 360amp by 24volt which will give you longer hour of useage, if you PHCN is not regular by the time your battery are down, charging will be an issue and you will definately hate inverter.
