Police men are humans and have things they check in those they stop before deciding what to do with them (Though there are exceptions). If you appear as prey, even a boy scout will take you for a ride.

I repeat again, unless you're in an hostile/isolated environment, try what I listed above.

Stories like this one are why I say the NPF is beyond reform, and should simply be disbanded. It is nothing but a nationwide protection racket, as ridiculous as putting the Italian mafia in charge of "security".

Better to start again from zero, this time with local police forces overseen by elected sheriffs - it's harder to shake down civilians for money when they are people you either grew up with or are related to, and your boss is a respected member of the community, rather than just another criminal in uniform waiting for his subordinates to kick back some of their takings.

Exactly. Anyone who thinks the corruption of the ordinary policeman on the street is some sort of accident that the higher ups would like to correct is delusional. The ordinary policemen on the street are corrupt because their bosses are corrupt, and those who enter the NPF know exactly what they'll be doing with their time - shaking down ordinary people, escorting "big men" around or acting as armed thugs for one "oga" or another.

See, l have an Uncle who is a State Commissioner now.
I use to go to his office on Fridays when he was still Area Commander, since it is close to my School, before going home.
His Subordinates use "Sack" to bring Money to him every Friday and he will just use fist to carry some and give me, without even counting.
I always pray it is 'One thousand Naira Notes' area that his fist would go. May God forgive me from eating out of their blood Money

One day l asked him what he does with all this Notes, he said he passes some of it "Up the Ladder" to his Boss (Commissioner) and keep the rest.

The act still goes on till today but now. he does not pass Cash to "Abuja", they have a coded way of doing it which l cannot reveal here as he is still in service.
