Pastor Adeboye's Redeemed Church of God have built a cancer screening and prevention centre with Hi-tech equipment worth close to N100m. The 10-room centre called Healing Stripes Hospital, is located on Adebisi close, off Ajao Rd, Surulere, Lagos and will offer pre-cancer awareness and enlightenment programme, screening, diagnosis, treatment and monitoring.

The centre was officially commissioned on June 5 by pastor Adeboye and anyone can go there for screening.

I thought "god" was the healer, why build a hospital. Could be because "god" is not real just like santa clause.

Let the holy ghost discover the tumours and tell us whether they are adenocarcinomas or leiomyosarcomas. Let the lord remove the cancers without radiation, surgery or poisonous drugs. Let the healings be obvious and verifiable, not the fake nonsense the clowns on TV try to fool us with.

It just seems odd that a "powerful man of god" has to rely on cold, godless technology just like atheists, pagans and muslims.

I am more concerned if it is free or another business venture. I have lost respect for a lot of these MOGs, it will take a while for me to go to church again cos it seems "men of God" these days are as vane as the people they preach to. Everything to them these days is business, charity is usually pittance but the ones that will involve large chunk of cash is no charity, so much talk about giving your widow's might.
Until I confirm that whatever it is they do there is free of Charge, I will just siddon dey look them as dem dey decieve their very dumb congregations.

And why should it be free? Are the specialist who are going to be working at the centre expected to do so for free? Or you expect the place to be sustained by the church? The same church that many people lampoon for collecting tithes!
I'd be glad if the centre is operated at an affordable rate, besides how many people value free things anyway

I have been a nairaland member since 2007 and i cannot be surprised at any comment of any subject matter at all, the truth is that nairaland is an open forum of which different people from different works of life are members, the able, the disable, the sane, the insane, the intelligent, the dumb ass, the literate, the illiterate, the religious, the evil ones, e.t.c and have all got a right to express their views, and we all have to live with it, sadly

This is a laudable project. We supposed to have this every where in the country. The WHO has said that Cancer deaths have surpassed the deaths due to HIV/AIDs, TB and Malaria combined in developing countries. My only reservation is that 100million naira ($650,000) is small to set up such a center to be "standard". In the post it is said that the center will provide screening and treatment. That money will not be able to do that, I am hoping other people will donate to such a center.

For those people opening their loud mouths and talking trash! Please keep your trashy comments to your selves. What have you done to better the lives of your next door neighbor? Nonesense!!!!

Good One Indeed from the RCCG Pastor, Thanks so much. How I wish many pastors will begin to follow suit. Let them build social services.

Now to its operation, even Mission Hospitals/Schools in the developed world are not free. A hospital is capital intensive. Equipment need to be refurbished regularly and all that. But it should be regulated. The hospital may get support from the church and I believe that the RCCG will support it fully so that it becomes a good source of meeting the health needs of Nigerian Men/Women.

Once again, I commend the RCCG and its Senior Pastor. This is good.
