Tell them about boundaries, actions and consequences. Inform them about the dangers of alcohol, drugs, crime etc

Sex leads to unplanned teenage pregnancy, early parenthood, many missed opportunities and regrets in life. Alcohol and drugs lead to loss of self control and involuntary sex, violence, crime etc.

Teach the boys and girls about their bodies and biology and things they need to know to protect themselves from harm and peer pressure. Teach them about communication, honesty and how to accept and take responsibility for their actions. Very important.

Finally, hope they learn all that and turn out good

Teenage years include the years between thirteen and nineteen. That is a wide range. Which age are we talking about exactly?

Be truthful to them and guide their thoughts. Going on dates doesn't necessarily mean sex as there are lots of things they can do to know each other.

Teach them on how they should meet during daylight and avoided places where they could be tempted to engage in sex.

Make them realize sex is fun however, it is designed for a right time. However, should they feel so impatient to wait, teach them how to be faithful and protected for their health and sanity.

Most importantly, how well do they trust you and how would you rate their moral compass generally?

I will encourage it... I will like to know whom my daughter is befriending instead of her doing it behind my back...
That's after her mother must have told her how to say NO and be firm about it...
I on the other hand will teach her when the boys were lying to her... The 'if u truly love me then show me' blackmail... The 'u were the only one I think about when I'm about to sleep and the moment I woke up' sermon...She should run away immediately she hears stuffs like that or related to it...

The game is still the game but different players..

There is a HUGE difference between a 13-year-old and a 19-year-old so my approach would differ. However, I share many of the thoughts expressed in the comments below.

They don't need to be doing that until college. However, don't shame them if they do.

Just explain that they need to focus on themselves, their future, and just enjoying their life as a young man/woman. There's plenty of time for dating later.

It seems like most of the time it's peer pressure that makes them want that. But if there's a friend they have, and the friend is a good kid, make an exception. But chaperoned dates only.
