The truth is not just about our deficiency in English language but they are very much concern about the money they are making .

It is not about acing the test. It is about the fee. Many people who wish to travel can't afford to pay such amount of money on a test when travelling is not guaranteed.

So should they lower the fee so that every Tom Dick and Harry can apply? Don't you see the fee as them providing some restrictions to 100m Nigerians applying?

Nice one, the job being done by the campaigners is highly commendable; we wish them more power to their elbows.

I think the petition should be tweaked to prolong the validity of the certificate and not to ask that Nigerians stop writing the exam

If the council decides to use Nairaland as part of the study to decide if Nigeria meets the requirements to be taken off the list, we will not make it.
Exactly my point, even on Twitter, facebook... etc. Even the bad "Engrish" of the princes who have access to Abacha's loot. Lol

What about the duration that is just 2years compared to France that does not expire?

UK response is dumb ...

That's for those who even fancy the idea of living in a country like Britain.

A country that once was, and now is no more.

But lives on past Glories and has been replaced by China, Singapore, UAE and some parts of United States.

You are correct, but these are not a good enough excuse not to live there, America also lives on past glories, Yet both countries are still better to live in. Compared to China, Singapore, and UAE. Believe it or not. I know!

A British citizen will fail the exams self. They just use those stupid exams to milk Developing countries.

Correct, they shouldn't have problems passing the exams.

But the UK would not include nigeria as an English speaking country because of the fees they accumulate from folks who seek to apply for visas. Despite been the colony of nigeria. It's all about the ££££

Nigeria ranks top 5 of the highest scorers in the test in the world; this information is available on Wikipedia, so I beg to disagree. I think the major problems are the cost of taking the test, and the validity period.

They actually think we lose our English proficiency after two years of taking the test?! It's just a crazy money making scheme in my opinion.

Idiots like you are the problem we have in this country. The issue on ground is not passing or failing the exam but spending a lot of money to write the exam and the result becomes useless after two years..Is it that ppl who pass the exam without using the result suddenly become non English proficient after been certified just two years prior…

Because some healthcare migrant workers from some countries has over the hears made a wholy pa mistakes with patients diagnosis and medications which resulted in mortalities.

One doctor and a nurse from Malaysia couldn't read they put a DNR on a minor illness patient he died because of the DNR placed on his bed side mistakenly. There are a whole lota other fatal cases of mistakes made by non English speakng nurses and doctors in the NHS due to lack of understanding of English language.

* DNR Do Not Resucitate.

Alot of British born healthcare workers are also required to read and pass atleast level 2 English and Maths or they cannot qualify as a nurse, I know.

You are correct, but you can go for a Level 1 or level 2 English that is for life, though that those ones cost a bit more money. The options are ussually there to chose.

You guys need to understand that Nigeria will forever remain on the ielts countries not because they don't know that we speak and write good English but because its a major source of foreign exchange for them. Nigeria and India is their main mkt, they can never lose it. Know this and channel energy to more productive purpose.
