She is working, she is just not making enough for rent

Neither of them have ever paid rent before, they just left their parents house and got married, they are now squatting with friends.

Neither of them should have gotten married.
They should cut their excesses and start making deliberate plans to save towards rent. There are people in worse situation but are still paying rent, they are comfortable where they are so they are not really bothered about their rent.

What excesses should they cut?

The only thing we know is that someone has a gambling addiction. That is the only excess to be cut here. They are literally squatting

The problem here is the gambling, and it is an addiction that is not as easy as you clearly assume it is. You cannot use "other people have it worse" in this scenario. Everyone has different experiences, different issues, that must be addressed differently.

The man has an addiction, the woman barely makes enough to sustain them both AND pay rent, since oga is collecting loans to fuel his addiction.

The problem here is that they got married, and neither of them has the mental and/or financial capacity to be married to begin with. They need to have an honest conversation about their situation and see if there is a way forward, or if they will need to involve other people to find that way.

I won't say much again, it's obvious that they are comfortable where they are because if they had no where to squat then definitely they would be forced to rent a house.
