USA's 700 billion usd defence budget isn't all used to develop and research weapons. Hope you know that? You don't seem to know.

Most of these money goes to maintaining their arsenal. For instance, the USA's aircraft career maintainance ALONE is $60Billion from that 770 billion before you start talking about maintaining their warship, subs, plenty aircraft and land based vehicles. All Military personnels are paid from that money. Also USA has more than 800 bases around the world today. Maintaining those bases, like electricity, water, food, damaged hardwares etc is also from that money. You think they're all pumped into hardware research? Don't make me laugh.

No mind this keyboard warriors. Always talking about US military budget, how big it is etc etc Meanwhile they also forget that it is one thing to allocate budget, however how the money is actually utilized is also of great significance.

For starters, US Military budget is driven by a powerful corporate lobby. A significant part of US military budget is also spent towards appeasing these military industrial corporations, as a result US spend more $billions on defense projects that it doesnt necessarily need. A good example of such is the controversial Lockheed Martins 5th generation fighter jet (F35 raptor) that cost atleast $135M a piece. The US aircraft carriers are now regarded as a 'Giant floating coffins" by military analyst because of their vulnerability to the calibre of hypersonic missiles manufactured by Russia and china. Instead of being phased out, they remain in service because of the powerful military lobby whose only goal is to continue to make profit off them in service maintenance contract et al. The US is at the mercy of the corrupt military corporate lobby, such that despite its huge military spending it is lagging behind even in research projects. US doesnt even have functioning hypersonic missile, while country like Russia and china are far ahead of US in hypersonic tech. Russia has not only hypersonic missiles that could evade US defense system and strike any part of in less than 20mins, but it also has a functioning defense system against hypersonic missiles, that US is yet to have. The fear they are lagging behind in missile technology is why US is desperate to have missile bases on russia's borders, especially in Ukraine.

Another point of note is that it is imprudent to compare dollar-for-dollar US military budget with those of countries like Russia, which also has a state of the earth, top notch, indigenous, defense manufacturing industry thats based on local currency(ruble). This explains why Russian defense hardware are cheaper than US even though they may be at-per or even surpasses that of US in terms of quality. For instance, Russia's answer to the F35 Raptor is its new 5th gen fighter jet, the Sukhoi SU-57, and it cost only US$40M a piece after conversion to US$. Long story short, for every $10 US spends on a military gadget, it costs Russia atmost US$2 for similar gadget.
