OyeofIkoTuN: Let's first get the difficult part completed the bridge of the Niger. The next president will complete the connected roads or the states might do it themselves. We need that bridge completed because the iron bridge cannot deal with all the traffic. |

From the conception of the bridge till Jonathan left is two years.. that where the argument, cost design etc where approved before award and moving to site.. also counterpact funding was 50%paid... Buhari came up and cancelled the payment , investigated for two years and then repaid what has been paid... So for 8years he couldn't finish ordinary bridge 2 Likes 1 Share |

It seems some commentators here just hop about from post to post. Nairalanders have always posted progress reports about the bridge since it's construction started in 2015 to date. Let's leave the naysayers alone, the bridge and its complement of road network are taking shape and people are taking strategic economic position on ground. Commissioning date 2023 is fast approaching. 1 Like |

Emir01:Doyin Okupe shares shocking revelations about Second Niger Bridge Quoting Chidi Cali, a Facebook user, in a post entitled: “GEJ, Buhari & The People,” Okupe said, [1] The Bridge is NOT Being Constructed by the FGN. [2] It’s a PPP Project which the FGN contributes a tiny fraction. [3] The 2nd Niger Bridge Will Cost about N117 billion. [4] Started in 2013 and should have been completed in 2017, but worked stopped for 31 months. Completion date Not certain now. [5] FGN share of the Cost is N30billion. Jonathan through the Sure-P paid N21.2billion (71%) including N7billion for the completion of preparatory work ( 6] 38% of the work has been done as at Jan 2015. [7] The N140b Oshiomhole said was wasted on Admin cost on the bridge was a lie, as admin cost will not be higher the to cost of the whole project. [8] Buhari’s Govt Paid N2billion NOT $2billion as Osinbajo said during the Anambra state election. They will be paying another N3.05 when 2018 budget is approved. [9] Work has restarted in earnest at the site and about 5%-7% has been completed bring the total completed work to about 43% to 45% according to an engineer I spoke to 10] All the pictures flying all over the internet are pictures of work-in-progress made during the 1st quarter of 2015. [11] In summary Jonathan Govt have paid 71% of FGN share of the cost, While Buhari’s govt has paid 6.1%. [12] Julius Berger, the Major Contractor and Construction company will put Toll Gate on Completion of the Bridge to cover their cost. [13] The Construction Company is Funding the Project and the People using the Bridge will bear the cost via Toll Charges. [14] The real People building the Bride are Nigerians that will use the Bridge, as they will REPAY the cost to Julius Berger. [15] For those celebrating Politicians and sharing old or fake pictures of 2nd Niger Bridge, the #Facts are Not on your side 3 Likes 1 Share |

Many argument but the truth is that plus or minus the commissioning date for 2NB might be after Buhari's tenure It's true the project itself is over 80% completed, but one major thing that will delay it commissioning is this raining season which will slow the pace of work. I've worked with Berger and I have been to that site twice, in 2014 and last visited in 2015 January 10th to be precise and I can tell you guys for fact that the bridge started in 2013 -2014, mobilization and moving of heavy equipment and personnel. I have step my two foot on the Asaba end of the bridge because that where Berger started from, created access road etc. So from what is on ground I don't think they can finish this year. 2 Likes |

Takeproft: See the Major point in the report. I don't blame you just that you are not following up on how all this project is being financed. The project is financed by NSIA not PPP again. Abacha looting recovery is part of the fund. GEJ doesn't pay what you claimed. There alot of contract initiated by GEJ government and government before him but there's no plan on how they will finance them e.g Mambila power plant, Lagos Ibadan, second Niger bridge etc. Read about NSIA. From PPP to NSIA “So when this government came in, they stopped the plan of PPP. This one now is more or less like our conventional contract and being sponsored by the government through a better funding arrangement, through the NSIA. So there is a better funding arrangement now unlike before when it was conceived as a PPP project,” he explained. 1 Like |
