Ebubu:We need to think out of the box on how to monetize football in Nigeria and West Africa. We have the raw materials genetically in West Africa in terms of athleticism Now with the internet it might be possible one day to bypass TV Another thing is that our local clubs are shafted when they sell players to European clubs This is a geopolitical issue and African Football needs to speak with one voice .Money from sale of star players can make a huge difference 2 Likes |

aribisala0: Well, the premier league is successful because they pay high ticket prices to watch a match.... Tickets at leagues in the EPL cost between 35-90 pounds , which is between 19000 to 55000 naira. (Before the EPL, English stadiums were hell zones and a mess, and ticket prices were cheap.). Nigerians won't decide to pay N10000 for popular side self. Also, there is TV rights money. EPL from the word go sold its TV rights to SKY for a five year, 304 million pounds deal in 1992, and the recent deal is worth 5.3 billion pounds. No media house in Nigeria or africa has that money lying around for such a deal. 1 Like |

I was at this same stadium yesterday for the game between Gateway United FC vs Campos fc of Owerri. All what the OP said is . In the game, one of the Linesmen was a fully endowed lady, every of her features was just bouncing as she was running through the flanks |

Is this division 2, 3, 4 or just an average amateur league? I know this can't be the NPFL nor the NNL. |

Hey brother calm down a bit na, they've been some form of improvements in the league in terms of security. I think where we are still having problem when it comes to security is the core northern states and that's when probably maybe the away team is won. So we need to erase this home must win at all cost in our system and thank God teams have been able to take a point or maximum points on the road since two seasons ago. premierlead: |

I was at something similar yesterday at the match between Nnewi United vs Crown FC Ogbomoso at the Rojenny Stadium, Oba, Anambra. Game ended 0-0. I just felt we have a long way to go because there was no single spectator apart from those that came with the team or those that had business in the stadium. The grasses were brown because no one is ensuring that they're watered. We really have a long way to go. |

backbencher:The Premier league is successful for many reasons NOT ONE Actually you are wrong they do not pay high ticket prices. I know because I go regularly I also attended Nigerian league games in the 80s Tickets are less than half of revenue The Premiership is successful partly because it is very well marketed and they are able to get very lucrative TV deals from around the world. This involves getting in the heads of our young people and convincing them to watch it and shun ours. We should wake up. Marketing and English language are key. In terms of quality it is not better than the German league which is not as successful We have to start somewhere Do you know where the Chinese economy was 30 years ago ?? My point is start moving in the right direction and one day you will reach your destination. START!!! In the life of a country 50 years is nothing I am realistic we are not going to rival the Premier League in 10 years but we could in 50 if we start working We have more natural talent in Nigeria 2 Likes |

foleskay: You are somewhat correct but if you watch Enyimba match at Aba, it will definitely be entirely different from the pictures i saw here. Enyimba matches can't be free and crowd will still be there, i once paid 1k during Enyimba's champions league match and enjoyed it all, Nigerian league will get better with time. |

I think it boils down to the home team. With the state of our league presently you can't see anyone traveling interstate for a game. So for now the home team should device a means of bringing fans in their environment to the stadium. Hausa: 1 Like |

Hausa:Very long way that is where vision and leadership come into it In the 80s we had well attended leagues and even in the early 90s. This is Pinnick's job which clearly he is not up to .He has not shown vision or belief in anything local The Global sports industry is worth over $ 500 billion This is an international trade issue It does not happen happen naturally Countries jostle for a share of the pie and our politicians are not awake to the possibilities Our population is very young so we need to think of Sports as business just like music and Nollywood 1 Like |

backbencher: The stadium is good enough bro trust me based on their standard... It wouldn't cost them a billion to construct a borehole... Link it inside the stadium with a commercial sprinkler to provide water... The reason there was no grasses was because the grasses were neglected because of no water ...the beauty of grasses is manure and water... The premier League u were watching, halftime performance of every match, u can see sprinklers watering the grasses even when it was raining.... I Was not saying that they should do it the big boys way abroad... They should do it based on their standard... But I don't think the grasses I saw on that picture was Nigerian standard... They should be better than that 1 Like |

Still very local and our standards are terribly low. Watch the pitches used by third division clubs in South Africa. We lack maintenance culture and takes inefficiency as a way of life. |

Amotolongbo: Is it not too much government involvement through NFF and NFL that is keeping the league from reaching its full potential, just like NITEL situation before Obasanjo deregulated the sector How many European and American leagues are run by their governments? |
