CHAPTER SIX: STRANGER ADVENTURES OF EASTER


YEAR: 2022


"Mehn, that nigga is a veteran player in the field," Jacob exclaimed amusingly. "Can you imagine cheating on one's wife on her birthday why giving her the impression that you aren't by making the day a memorable one for her?"

"I call that professionalism and excellent homework," Felix said adjusting himself on his sit. The 3Cs, maids, Felix and Jacob are gathered and engaging in a chit chat in the garden beside Felix's room, which doubles as the security post, positioned beside the gate.

"I call that wickedness," Morgana said.

"I concur with you my sis," Cynthia referred to Morgana.

"I just can't comprehend why men take pleasure in cheating. What do they see out there in the bodies of other women that is not been possessed by their wives at home? Is it not the same thing they're ogling after?" Cynthia uttered.

"My sister you will not understand. You will definitely not understand," that was Jacob.

"What is there not to understand? As a matter of fact, what is even there to understand? Men and cheating eh, they're like five and six, bread and butter, inseparable. That's why I always say men are dogs," Loveth said with irritation.

"Says the honourable daughter of a dog," Jacob said mockingly at Loveth.

"Come again," Loveth replied him angrily.

"Yes nahh, you stereotyped all men as dog or is your father excluded? Is he not a man?" Jacob fired back.

"See Jacob or whatever you call yourself, don't step on my foot ohh. Better mind what you spill from those despicable mouth of yours or else," Loveth said to Jacob angrily, pointing and wriggling her finger at him.

"See who is giving threat," Jacob mocked and chuckled, clapping his hands.

"You two should stop this fight," Felix said trying to calm things down.

"Jacob, you shouldn't have insulted her father and you, Loveth, you shouldn't have stereotyped all men as dogs giving the fact there are still good and faithful ones and beside, men don't stereotype women as good diggers," Felix said.

"That's a lie, a very big fat lie," Morgana countered. "Out there you see and hear men calling women gold diggers, evil, sluts, whores, pussies, hoes or farm tool or whatever demeaning name you can think of."

"Gbam."

"On point."

"Tell them oh."

Liv, Cynthia and Loveth approved respectively.

"Speak for yourselves young women or are you one?" Jacob fired at the girls who gave him cold stares, he faced the opposite direction with the 'I don't give a damn' attitude, whistling.

"Enough guys, let's end all this stereotype issh now, by the way, this wasn't what we were discussing. We were discussing about an unfaithful husband whose game of cheating on his wife caught up with him as he was caught, exposed and humiliated," Leo said trying to play the peace maker.

"At least I'm happy that, that bastard was caught, exposed, embarrassed and humiliated. Good riddance to bad rubbish. My heart goes to the poor wife though, I wonder the emotional trauma she must be going through," Cynthia said.

"Assuming I was in the shoes of that woman, which I don't pray to be in anyway, what I would have done to that cheat of a husband, humiliation will sit down to take lessons. I don't condone bullshit cos I'm a bad bitch," Liv said, everyone turned to give her the look in response to her last statement.

"Come on guys, why the looks? You guys can attest to that. Is there any other bad bitch in this house or is there anyone badder than I am?" Liv asked her spectators.

"Don't get me wrong. I'm not a bad girl neither am I a good girl, I'm just the perfect blend of both. I'm neutral, I have a good side and a bad side. You don't wanna experience the bad side of me," Liv explained, saying the last line menacingly.

"Whatever." Loveth waved it off. "Morgana, how did you and your sibling's just concluded Easter holiday at your grand parent's home go?" She quizzed.

"Well, as I always say, whenever the 3 combines with the C subscript S, boredomness is not an option. Even if it was programmed to be so, we are the anti virus that overwrite and reprogram it. So trust us, it was fun," Morgana said winking at her.

"So can you gist us about what went on during the easter holiday then?" Felix asked.

"Okay. So which one do you want me to gist you about? A few things happened during the four weeks period," Morgana replied.

"Anyone you think will be more interesting to tell and listen to," Loveth said.

"Erm, why don't you tell them about the adventures with the strange and terrifying being," Liv suggested to Morgana.

"Really, strange being?" Jacob asked excitedly.
"Yeah," Liv replied.

"I think that one will do," Morgana said.

"Well, here we go," Morgana said adjusting her self on her sit, her listener's gaze and attention fixed on her. She began her narration.

"It was a fateful evening when Leo bought an horror movie with the intention of seeing it later that night. At the appointed time, we all gathered including grandma and grandpa to see the movie little did we know that an unexpected and intriguing event will follow after..."


***Flashback***


"Young man, where are you coming from?" Chief Nonso Chukwuma asked his grandson, Leo, who just entered into the living room. He glanced at his wrist watch.

"Grandpa, I just went to the movie store down the street to get this movie," Leo replied flashing the movie at Chief Nonso.

"At this time of the day? You know how unsafe it is out there especially by this time of the day," Nonso chastised.

"I'm sorry, it won't repeat itself," Leo said apologetically.

"Okay. So what kind of movie is that?"
"It's a horror movie."

"So you love horror movies?" Nonso asked coldly, staring sternly at Leo.

"Yes yes yes, I do," Leo stuttered, wondering why the cold and stern look on his big man's face.
"Good, that's one of my favourite movie genre," Nonso replied excitedly, lightening the mood.

"Ohh!" Leo replied relieved.

"So when do you intend on seeing it?"

"That will be after dinner."

"Good, when you are ready, you let me know."

"Okay," Leo replied and walked upstairs.
Minutes after dinner, everyone which includes Nonso, Sandra, Liv, Leo and Morgana settled in the living room in front of the TV to see the movie Leo bought earlier. Mrs Sandra and the girls found out about the movie during dinner and decided to join him and Chief Nonso to see it.

A smile cut across Chief Nonso's lips as he stared at his grand children who were already sitted in readiness for the movie. The past few days since they arrived has been lively thanks to the liveliness and of course naughtiness of the 3Cs.

"As I said before, this is a horror movie, I don't want anyone to scream ohhh or have nightmares later in the night. If you know you can't handle it, better go and sleep now because I don't want someone's horrific scream to torment or disturb my sleep," Leo announced.

"My friend, quit your speech and start this movie," Sandra ordered.

"Okay," Leo replied and pressed the TV remote which made the movie come on. He walked over to the light switches on the wall and switched them off, unlightening the living room.

"Why did you switch off the lights?" Sandra questioned Leonardo.

"To make the movie more horrish and scary," Leo replied smirking.

"My friend, better switch on the lights," Sandra commanded.

"Dear, he is right, you don't see horror movies with the lights on but vice versa."

"Why?"

"To feel the horrific nature and theme of the movie. They weren't called horror movies for just any reasons," he explained.


***Present***


"So did anyone scream?" Jacob asked.

"Of course we all know the president of the screamers guild of Nigeria, Morgana!!!" Liv said pointing at Morgana.

"Coming from someone who scaringly clutched onto grandma," Morgana countered.

"Or more like grandma clutching onto her," Leo said as everyone laughed.

"Yeah, you guys should have seen the scene, it was damn hilarious," Leo said.

"Just can't stop imagining how it would have been. Continue," Felix said.

"What happened next?" Loveth asked.

"Well..." Morgana said as she continued narrating.


***Flashback***


Morgana tossed from one side of the bed to another unable to sleep, the horror movie on her mind. The room is dark as the lights in it has been switched off. She rolled over to the edge of the bed where the bedside drawer is positioned, picked her phone placed on the drawer to check the time, 2:15 AM was boldly displayed on the screen of her android device. She sighed and rolled back into the bed. She stared at the ceiling hoping the force of sleep will overwhelm her. She sat up immediately when she felt the presence of someone in the room. She saw an apparition walking towards her menacingly, stealthly and scaringly. With fear and panic, she switched on the bed lamp, turned to face the mysterious image advancing towards her.

"Aaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaarrrrrrrrrrrrgggggggghhhhhhhhhhhh!!!!!" She screamed in fright and passed out.

CHAPTER TWELVE, EPISODE SIX: STRANGER ADVENTURES OF EASTER

"Morgana!!!" Nonso screamed as he ran into the room followed by his wife, Leo, Liv and the maids who were three in number.

"Chineke!!! My daughter... what happened?" Sandra shrieked rushing towards the unconscious Morgana lying on the bed. She lifted her head and placed it on her laps.

"She is still breathing," Nonso said after touching her chest.

"Someone go get water," he ordered, Leo and one of the maids rushed out to get water.

Seconds later, they returned with Leo holding a bowl of water, Nonso dragged it from him before he could hand it over, he sprinkled the water hastily on Morgana for some seconds. Morgana coughed as she became conscious. She cuddled up into the bed in shock and fear leaving everyone frightened and concerned.

Morgana sat at the edge of the bed close to the headboard. She cuddled her legs together, placed her hands across them. She stretched her legs closer to her face which she placed on them. She shook frightfully.

"Nne, what happened?" Nonso asked worried. They were all woken up by the sudden scream by Morgana.

"I... I... I... him... him... scary... scary man," Morgana stuttered unable to explain.

"What did you see?" Leo asked concerned.

"Man standing over there," Morgana said pointing at the direction where the unknown being stood before she passed out.

"Man, how?" Liv asked unable to place any meaning to what Morgana said.

"I think this could be an effect of the horror movie she saw yesterday, her imaginations are just playing games with her. This was the reason I gave that warning before we saw the movie," Leo said.

"I think you're right," Nonso replied Leo glancing at Morgana who was cuddled by her grandmother.

"She is too shock to say anything, I think we should let her be. She needs rest," Sandra said.

"Grandma, please don't leave me alone. I'm scared. He might come again," Morgana pleaded. She held Sandra tightly. Sandra glanced at the others who were tensed at her utterance.

"Don't worry darling, grandma is here, she isn't going anywhere," Sandra said to Morgana to calm her down. Nonso, the kids and the maids left after sometime while Sandra prepared Morgana for bed.


***Present***


"I can't believe you actually passed through that," Loveth said sounding sympathetic.

"Yeah, it was really frightening and traumatic," Morgana replied with traces of sadness in her voice.

"I'm just imagining I, being the victim of that. Really terrible," Felix said.

"And about the strange being, what later happened?" Jacob asked as Morgana continued with her narration.


***Flashback***


Morgana, after she had overcome her shock, narrated her encounter with the strange and scary being, as she dubs him. According to her, the strange being whom she deduce from it's body structure to be a male was claded in a long black gown which covered his feet. The gown had a hood that covered his hair and almost every part of his face. He had a scary face which Morgana couldn't point out if it was a mask or his actual face. He possessed long nails, in conclusion, he was extremely scary and frightening.

Her grandparents and siblings rebuffed it and tried convincing her that there wasn't any encounter of such stating that it was her imaginations playing tricks on her as a result of the horror movie she saw. Morgana remained adamant on her words with the claim that she knew and is sure of what she saw, felt and experienced.

If everyone thought Morgana's encounter with the strange being was going to be the last, then they were on a long roller coaster ride because two days later, such encounter happened, the victim this time was Liv. She had an encounter with the strange being when she came out of the bathroom and saw him standing close to the bed that fateful evening. Out of fright and shock, she screamed and luckily ran out of her room before any harm could be done to her by the strange and scary being. Such encounter became a routine that occurred every day with each of the maids as victims. The encounter with the strange being sent shivers and panic down everyone's system, the height of it is that no one knows who his next victim will be, when or where or what his intentions are. This made everyone in the Nonso Mansion believe without any atom of doubt that the house is hunted by an evil spirit.

Nonso and Sandra had wanted sending the kids back to their parents but such decision was opposed by the 3Cs who stated that they weren't going to leave them alone as the maids out of fear had resigned after their encounters, but they were going to stick as a family to face and tackle it together. The 3Cs also urged their grandparents not to inform their parents but if it happens that such steps need to be taken, then they will.

Sandra believing the problem to be a spiritual one had invited a pastor to conduct an exorcism in the house. She also has not relented in anointing every nook and crane of the house with anything anointable be it anointing oil, holy water and even what she termed, blood of Jesus. This she has done to provide a solution to the problem. As a result of Sandra's --- who has suddenly turned a prayer warrior thus obeying the law of desperate times and desperate measures --- non relentless effort in house anointing, every part of the house now reeks of anointing oil and it's counterparts.

Mrs Sandra Chukwuma got up from the bed after switching on the bed lamp. She picked the Bible kept beneath her pillow after she had almost demolished the building with her prayers earlier that night, she checked the time on the wall clock which reads ten minutes pass four in the morning. She clutched her Bible to her chest and head to the kitchen downstairs. Ever since the mysterious encounter with the strange being, her Bible has always been her companion. It's been five days since the last encounter with the strange being of which Leo was his victim. It seems the exorcism, prayers and anointings of Sandra were paying off.

At the kitchen, Sandra placed her Bible beside the microwave on the counter, she opened the fridge, brought out a bottle of water, took out a glass cup from it's shelf and filled it with water from the bottle. She gulped down the water in one go, sighing as she relished the sensation of the cold water on her body system. She refilled the glass cup with water, holding the glass cup on her right hand, she turned around from the counter where the bottle of water is placed. She stood still in shock unable to move as a result of the sight before her, that moment the glass cup she held fell off her hand, crashing on the floor and shattering into unfixable pieces.

"Jeeeeeeeeesssssssssuuuuuuuuuuuuuuussssssssssss!!!!!" She screamed and blacked out.


***Present***


"Eehya, I can't believe grandma also experienced that," Felix said sympathetically.

"How arth the prayer warrior fallen," Jacob uttered.

"It's not funny," Morgana replied him.

"I know. Just being sarcastic. I still can't believe that after all the prayers, exorcism and aniontings, the poor woman still encountered the strange one," Jacob said shaking his head in pity.

"This is worse than I thought," Cynthia lamented as Morgana continued her narration.


***Flashback***


"The incident of the past few days wasn''t a spiritual one, this house wasn't hunted neither was it ever invaded by any demon," Nonso said to his audience --- Sandra and the 3Cs --- who were all seated on the couch in the living room.

"What do you mean by that? Didn't you hear about our various encounter with the strange being? Do you think we were lying or fabricated it?" Sandra asked her husband.

"But grandpa, I know what I saw," Liv said.

"And me too," Leo said.

"Tell him oh, he won't understand because he hasn't experienced it," Sandra said.

"Hear me out first," Nonso replied Sandra.

"Why you..." He said pointing to Sandra. "Were seeking for a spiritual solution to it, I decided to seek for a physical solution to it also. I made that choice when I came across an artificial fingernail at the hallway where Grace, one of our ex maids, encountered the strange being. I deduced it belongs to the strange being when it fits the description given by each one of you," Nonso explained, he brought out the artificial fingernail and placed it on the centre glass table.

Sandra and the kids wasted no time in examining the nail placed on the table. They were all shocked and surprised when it fitted their description of the nail the strange being possessed.

"But how come? It fits the description of Mr Strange's nails," Liv said surprised.

"Now think about it, can the nails of demons fall off their hands? How possible is that?" Nonso asked.

"That can't be possible except it's been worn by a physical being," Morgana reasoned.

"Exactly, that was the thought that struck me which propelled me to investigate more and fish out the person impersonating as the strange being. It will interest you to know that I know the person," Nonso said glancing at them.

"Really! Can you tell us?" Sandra asked.

"Here," Nonso said as he turned his laptop towards them, in it is a video been played. In the video is Mrs Sandra who entered the kitchen to drink water. Next, the strange being is seen walking in, he stands at the door to the kitchen. Mrs Sandra having refilled her glass cup with water turned only to come face to face with the strange being. The glass cup fell off her hand in shock as she screamed and fell down unconscious. The strange being walked towards her unconscious body, removed the hood off his head, he removed the scary mask off his face unveiling himself. He smiled at Sandra's unconscious body and walked out of the Kitchen when he heard the voices of Nonso and the 3Cs heading towards the kitchen, the video ended at that point.

"Leonardo!!!!!" Sandra, Liv and Morgana screamed at once. Shock and anger written all over their face as they turned towards Leo who shook in fright.


***Present***


"Leo!!!!!" Felix, Jacob, Cynthia and Loveth screamed in unison at Leo who looked away to avoid their gazes.

"So it was you all along," Jacob said pointing at Leo.

"Unbelievable," Cynthia uttered. "But wait a minute, if Leo is the strange being, how come he was also a victim?" She asked.

"Claims. They were just claims by him. He never encountered it. All that was just a ploy, a ploy to avoid suspicions. How can the strange being encounter the strange being?" Liv answered.

"How was your grandfather able to expose Leo as the strange being?" Felix asked.

"Well, after he got the clue that the strange being wasn't a supernatural entity but a physical being, he secretly bugged every nook and crane of the house with cameras without our knowledge, that was how the strange unknown being became known," Morgana explained taunting Leo with the last statement.

"So what happened next? Was he punished?" Loveth asked.

"Ehee na. Severely. Dem for allow am go free before?" Liv replied.

"Can you tell us about it," Loveth requested with interest.

"Guys, I think we've heard enough. Can we just stop here?" Leo said trying to change the topic.

"Uhmmm. I don't think so," Morgana replied Leo.
"But..."

"Keep quiet young man," Morgana cut off Leo. "Who is the storyteller here? That's right, Me," she said and spread out her hands with the 'so?' demeanor. She continued with her story.
