Russia has been battling Ukraine for three weeks now, with no major city taken. Thousands killed (including some of their elite special forces teams) , and confirmed destruction of hundreds of vehicles and aircraft.


You can see the difference.

There are other NATO countries like Poland, Norway, Latvia, Estonia etc that share borders with Russia. Even US state of Alaska is close to Russia
