Zimbabwe tried these years ago, chasing out foreign investments and appointing locals to take over in the midst of multiple sanctions, but basic economy simple showed it doesn't work that way(checkout the Zimbabwe dollar today). Point to note, Zimbabwe is also mineral rich (not oil though).

TLDR? What external companies bring to countries are investments, not businesses, they only tied those investments to businesses, once they pull out the investments, the businesses aren't sustainable as they use to unless you change the model 100%

China made similar mistake in 1950s/60s with leap forward and cultural revolution. Millions died. China reformed her economy and pulled out of Eastern block. In 70s, China economy was taking shape. In the real world, it’s open to everyone how weak the Russian army is. Nearly a month of fighting and still yet to capture a single major Ukrainian city. Thousand of casualties, including 5 generals. Over a thousand vehicles destroyed. A significant amount of helicopters and planes shot down, including top drawer stuff like the SU-34. Poor planning, shoddy logistics and outdated armor tactics.

At the same time, the sanctions levered against Russia are driving the economy off a cliff. They haven’t opened their stock market in two weeks!

Now they’re busy pushing conscripts to the war front and trying hard to bribe foreign mercenaries from Libya and CAR. All the while appealing to China for military aid and trying to force Belarus to join the war.
