I Am Unbothered By Court Ruling On My Sack. I Have Even Added Weight - Governor Umahi

Governor Dave Umahi of Ebonyi state has said that he is not worried about the recent court judgment removing him from office, IGBERETV reports.

On March 8, a Federal High court sitting in Abuja ordered the removal of Umahi and his deputy, Eric Igwe, over their defection from the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) to the All Progressives Congress (APC).

Speaking on Wednesday March 23, after a meeting with President Muhammadu Buhari in Abuja, the Ebonyi governor said it is against the constitution for him to have been sued in the first instance.

“I’m not worried, because in the first place, there is no constitutional provision that says that the governor can be sued. So, I’m not suable, But a court judgment is a court judgment. I’m not interpreting it, but I can speak to the constitution and the constitution says that once you’re elected, you enjoy immunity.

As supreme court says, votes cast in an election belong to the candidates. And that’s why you have qualifications of a candidate and not qualifications of a political party. So, I’m not worried.

God allowed it so that where I couldn’t reach in terms of my consultation [on contesting the presidency], this situation has made it possible for me to reach those places, and to truly see that Nigerians love me and they want me and that is the reason for that.

And I want to thank the PDP and even the man that boasted that he did that hatchet job. If the people that crucified Christ knew that it would bring salvation to the whole world, they wouldn’t have done that.

So, the hatchet man that boasted is like Judas Iscariot and I have no worry because the constitution is clear. I have confidence in the judiciary and you can see I have added some weight in these few days and I am looking more handsome”, he said.

Umahi said He left PDP not because PDP was a bad party. He felt PDP will not seed their Presidential ticket to the EAST. Sure He is correct, so He chose APC so He can be the Flagbearer.
What if Tinubu wins the ticket and God forbid wins the general elections, wouldn't it be 16 years that APC has not given the ticket to the East and it will rotate back to the north making it 32 years.
PDP was the sure chance for him to achieve that goal. Because if after 8 years it's coming back to the South, then south east will have a bigger argument that all the south has ruled except the East. But He wasn't smart enough and now his is fighting to still be governor.

This is why these politicians don't have any regard for judicial hence democratic processes because they always believe they are above the law.

They treat constitutional processes with utter disdain and treat judicial decisions with utter impunity.Too bad! Abeg the upper courts should do the needful fast

As much as I am very pleased with Umahi's developmental strides in Ebonyi mostly taking into consideration the state's lean resources, the Crosstitution he committed is legally and morally wrong and deserves to be punished for that. Immunity has nothing to do with political matters in court. Ihedioha was removed by the supreme court even when he was already sworn in as a Governor. He also said votes belongs to a candidate in an election, again, the supreme court in the case of Kogi state where Yahaya Bello inherited votes stated otherwise and as such, he is a goner. Political Crosstitution must stop.There is nothing wrong in defection as you are at liberty to exercise your right to freedom of association. But while doing that, please kindly handover the property of your former associates, in this case (PDP Mandate) and go to wherever you wish to go. For instance, as a manager of first bank, if you wish to switch over to Guarantee Trust Bank,you can't go with their properties. Please continue to add weight because even Ayade will soon join you in adding weight on Friday. Umahi the weight adder.

Stop this denial Mr Umahi, everyone knows you are bothered. It is evident in the way you have been handling the issue.

A person that is not bothered won't resort to social media ranting, showoff to prove a point and all that.

Although you are not doing bad when compared to other governors but this recent court judgement is giving you worries.
