Many moons ago I peered down the wrong end of a silver-plated police officer's semi-automatic handgun. It happened moments after I alighted from my car outside the front of a San Diego motel where I had driven a busty young blonde woman I met at the beach that day.

Looking forward to an evening of debauchery and wanton sex inside that motel, I was standing beside my car pulling on a pair of jeans over the running shorts that I'd been wearing at the beach when a police squad car with the lights flashing swung into the quiet street, made a U-turn and came to an abrupt emergency stop just twenty yards from where I stood.

"Get your hands in the air, and drop those pants" came the shouted order to which I instantly complied, while my brain tried to make sense of what was happening. Both doors of the squad car had been flung open, and two officers took up firing positions behind the doors with their pistols trained on my center of mass, ready to light me up like a Xmas tree.

With my jeans dropped on the street and wrapped around my ankles, I raised my hands high while peering down the barrel of that shiny stainless steel handgun trained on me by the closest of the two officers. I listened as the police radio crackled with updates, and after what seemed like an eternity but was only a minute or less, the guns were lowered and I was told the reason for that ambush.

Without any apology, one of the officers explained that moments earlier, a liquor store had been robbed by a gunman driving a car that matched the description of my car. Finally permitted to pull my jeans up off the ground, I thanked the officers for keeping their fingers light on those triggers. As I proceeded to the motel front desk, I asked my new female acquaintance why she was so calm and collected throughout the whole unexpected encounter, and she replied with a laugh that at least she could be sure that I was not a wanted criminal.

Putting that adrenaline-charged moment behind us, we then continued with the evening's agenda of feverish grappling atop the motel bed for a few hours, after showering together to wash off the beach sand.

I have once been held at a knife point.

During the END-SARS protest in late 2020, I was on my way to work in the wee-hours of the morning, I boarded a taxi and dropped at the junction while waiting for the staff bus to come.

Immediately I alighted from the taxi, three young dirty-looking smelling boys rounded me up. They held me and told me to bring my bag and empty my pocket. I had a laptop in the bag and two phones in my pocket. I also had my office key-card, a flash and some amount of money in the bag.

These boys from the underworld pointed their knives and wanted to stab me. I gently handed over my properties to them to avoid being on the front page of Nairaland.

The security operatives where not on the road as a result of the protests that time and few commuters were on the road.

This particular sad event still lingers in my mind and I almost slid into PTSD.

When I narrated the unfortunate story, some of my guys laughed at me saying I was not a street-rugged guy.

wait what later happened that night

I was bold to speak with him man to man and when he got to know that I grew up in Benue, that helped me a lot. But the guy kept on bringing gun to my room and be threatening shit out of me, at some point he seized my two phones. I even abandoned my room but he won't let me be until I got to know his group and then I involved his senior. The senior dealt with him and we were reconciled, but the whole memory still haunt me.

Sometime In 2014, I went to visit a friend whose dad is a police officer. We talked and talked and talked, he then told that he has learnt how to shoot a gun; I kinda doubted him, he went inside got his dad's gun, pointed it at me and cocked it.

I urinated on myself and passed out immediately. All I could remember was his mom fanning me on the bed a few hours later. I never ever thought of going to the guys house ever again.

Yes, long ago the first time armed robbers of 5men gang burgled inside our house at night. My mum and little brother was inside. I was pointed a gun on my forehead as a kid. But instead of getting frightened, I fought them because I was confident they will never pull the trigger. When they tried to hurt my mum, I struggled with them while my little brother was crying and pleading on them not to hurt his mum and brother. I heard one of them whisper to another shoot that boy. That was when I knew anything could happen. I struggled with the one brandishing a pistol tooth and nail until he stopped intimidating the house and left. Immediately they left I hurriedly bumped inside the kitchen picked up a kitchen knife, pestle and pursued them. But because I had no backup, my morale was not high. In the morning I was admitted to hospital because of wound I suffered.
People can lie on this forum. So you telling us you fought aemed men brandishing gun and you were left alive.

A petty thief approached me on a lonely road and snatched away my bag containing the kids snacks and my infinix note 5.. I had to drag it with him but he was much stronger than me, he brought out the phone and tried to access it but couldn't and he said that i should open it, i told him that i can only open the phone if he hands it over to me.. As I was about snatching it away from him, he brought out a dagger and aimed directly at my throat to stab me but I dodged it and pushed him away.. It was at that moment he ran away because people were already aware what was going on

Mine happened sometimes between 2014-2015 at Bosso, Minna, I was a Futmite then.

Felt like eating suya that particular night. Left my bed around to 11pm and headed for "YAHUZA SUYA SPOT". Got there with no stress, bought the Suya successfully and was returning back (immediately after Winners Chapel) when one Aboki dude accosted me, his second was waiting inside a Golf. Niga ask me ' How far, wetin dey for me in Hausa accent, omo I like froze for a sec, he then adjusted his Jalabia revealing one sharp 2-edged dagger, I was just staring like Zombie. I couldn't say shit.
Then like a flash, I cross the road to the other lane, luckily a bike was approaching, I stopped and told him to just ride. OMO I DIDN'T EVEN CARE TO LOOK BACK. (*I lost appetite las las for the Suya).
Omor, that road na my defense that year. I'm always stay in school long after school gen goes off by 10. Once I see any shady looking person, I don cross road. I fit cross road 5 times between school gate and emir junction.

IN MY 500 LEVEL 2ND SEMESTER.....

A UNIVERSITY IN THE EAST...

SITTING OUTSIDE PLACE OF RESIDENCE SIPPING A BOTTLE OF WHITE HORSE...

THREE GUYS SUDDENLY APPEARED AT ABOUT 2318HRS...

ARMED WITH PUMP ACTION RIFLES AND VERY BRIGHT TORCHES......

THEY WERE NOT SURE WHO THEY WANTED FROM THE FOUR MEN ON THE BENCH.....

THEN ONE OF US ASKED THEM TO PLEASE PUT OFF THE BLINDING LIGHTS...

DARKNESS MOMENTARILY!

TOOK ADVANTAGE AND MADE A RUN FOR IT....

THE STILLNESS OF THE NIGHT WAS INSTANTLY VIOLATED BY SLIDING/BLASTING SOUNDS....

I THANK ALMIGHTY GOD FOR KEEPING ME ALIVE THAT NIGHT AND UP TILL NOW WITHOUT A SINGLE SCRATCH!

During my university days..EKP Edo. My friend's younger sister was writing her jamb and my friend contacted me to help in providing answers (Jamb runs). I went with him to the school surrounded by thick forest, stationed myself in the forest and my friend would bring the questions from the hall to me. I was busy calculating and writing. Along the line, I met some other guys within the forest for same purpose and we teamed up. In the middle of nowhere a guy just walked in and asked us to kneel down and surrender ourselves. We obeyed. He later identified himself as a CID invigilating the exams and we where under arrest. Those other guys called someone and the person spoke to the police officer and he asked them to continue and freed them leaving only me. He placed his 'cold' pistol on my head and asked me to move or he will shot me. Guy I was almost urinating on my body, those other guys left me immediately. I begged for my life and I called my guy that I came with but he was even more scare to venture into the bush in search of my location. I have to give him my fone and the only money on me to 'bail' myself, before he asked me to run away from that forest. Guy I ran away without looking back. Man to man I can beat this guy but due to what he placed on my head (a gun), I have yo behave like a mumu. Because if he killed me in that forest my family may never know how I died, didn't inform them of my movement and all they knew was I should be in school.

My own experience happened in 2010. I was traveling back to Awka (unizik) cos school has resumed.

I boarded PMT at Ojuelegba, and that was during the era of ore road, we've all heard nasty tales about how dangerous and notorious that road was. The road was an eyesore and was littered with hoodlums and criminals who rob passengers with reckless abandon.

We left Ojuelegba by past 7am to and got to ore by 9pm cos of the traffic.

The driver now decided to park at a local motel so we can pass the night there and continue our journey at first light the following day. We all agreed cos we knew how notorious that area was especially at night.

By 3:am this silly PMT driver started horning for us to board that he has to be in Enugu by 7am cos it's his turn to load Lagos.

We told him it's still very early and dangerous, he rudely told us that he doesn't care that if we want to remain at the motel he would leave us and go.

So we boarded back the bus and continued our journey, to be honest, I was scared. Very scared.

We passed through ore and entered Benin, as we got to the benin bypass, I heard 3 loud gunshots, the worst had happened.

The robbers blocked our way with planks, tires and fired sporadically into the air to scare off anyone around.

Our driver halted the bus and they asked us to alight and lie on the ground, they ransacked everyone, phones, cash, shoes, wristwatches...etc were all taken.

My only joy was that the bus was filled with female students in fact more than 80% of the passengers were girls, yet no one was ràped.

After robbing us, they left us lying face down on the road and made they way into the bush. We go up, counted our losses, insulted the living hell out of the driver and moved on.

We got to unizik junction by 9am, that was an experience I will never forget.

The driver is actually one of them

Yea, two Hausa boys with c- shape knives at night on a lonely road. My phone was collected. What saved me was that I never struggled with them. I deliberately didn't look into their faces. When they realized I didn't put on any resistance , they left me after robbing and asked me to run..

Omo I ran for my dear life .
