Kaduna State Governor, Nasir El-Rufai and his wife, Barrister Asia Muhammad, were in London on Thursday, April 28, for the graduation ceremony of their son, Ahmad.

Ahmad bagged a degree from one of the universities in London.

Because both universities cannot increase fees to fund themselves properly and look attractive enough to rich elites like el rufai.

A few years ago, the then VC of ABU made a frank speech about university funding. One of the things he said was if you want Cambridge level degrees you have to.charge Cambridge level fees.

The fees that el rufai pays for his Son in his uk university are too too high. Yet the son gets good education as a result.

Nigerian universities on the other hand are expected to provide similar level on fees less than 400pounds per annum. Our education budget is about 2 billion pounds for all levels of education. Universities in Nigeria need trillions of naira more in extra funding.

Yes we need to diversify the economy. But most of our leaders are interested in sharing money. Sad. And yes that includes el rufai. But expecting university in Nigeria to provode 12000pounds worth of education on fees of 200 pounds is magical thinking
