Apex Igbo socio-cultural organization, Ohanaeze has expressed its displeasure with the Peoples Democratic Party, PDP, over its handling of the zoning of the party’s presidential ticket.

DAILY POST reports that the PDP has gone ahead to screen all the presidential aspirants on its platform despite huge calls that the position be zoned to the South-East.

In a statement issued on Sunday by the Ohanaeze Secretary-General, Mazi Okechukwu Isiguzoro, he accused the PDP of insincerity.

“Ndigbo are not happy with the way PDP has abused the principles of the zoning formula enshrined in her constitution.

“This is unacceptable and has brought open the suspicion that the PDP NWC is not sincere with the Igbos after milking the Igbo votes for 20 years.

“Any attempts by the NWC to manipulate the primaries in the favour of Atiku or any other Northerner will spell doom for the party,” Isiguzoro warned.

He said Governor of Rivers State, Nyesom Ezenwo Wike and former Governor of Anambra State, Mr. Peter Obi remained the best choice for the PDP.

“Both aspirants have shown courage and Igbo ingenuity in governance with a proven track record of accomplishments in Rivers and the Anambra States as Governors.

“We have monitored the progress made by the two Igbo sons and approved that their approaches to issues of the day and the dilemma facing Nigeria have sparked rays of hope for a better Nigeria”.

He further stated that, “Governor Wike has worked very hard to strengthen PDP as an opposition political party. This is why we are in support of Governors Ikpeazu and Ugwuanyi’s efforts to assist the Ohanaeze’s mandate of recovering Igbos in the South-South zone.

“It has been a herculean task to unite our kith and kin from South-South, who are part of us in line with the Constitution of Ohanaeze. All Igbo speaking States of Ohanaeze, including Ikwerre in Rivers and Anioma in Delta are part of the 2023 Igbo Presidency project.”

In 2015 and 2019, PDP agreed and zoned the presidency to the north, in 2023, the PDP is throwing its presidential contest open because a certain region is asking for their rights to be respected.

We must warn the PDP, their only source of block votes is the SE and SS. They must not step on the banana skin.

A man from the SE is the most qualified Nigerian on the ballot, the PDP must give him the ticket to contest, or lose the election woefully.

Vote for Peter Obi, okwute ndi Nigeria grin

Atiku needs to add flesh to the brown envelopes he sent to these Ipob cultural Wing in AfghanEastern for their tone to change.

I am surprised that it is even Afonjas afenifere that is taking paracetamol for Ohaneze headache.

Abaribe don collect enough from Turaki of Adamawa, e don declared support for another fulani man to rule Naija for another 8 years grin

Ralph uwazuruike don declared for Yeye Bello, e don tell us say no one in the yeast can deliver what Yeye Bello will deliver, not even Ojukwu. grin

Reno Omokriminal, the only legendary Igbo/ipobians spokesman don collect im own, e don say only a northerner can steer Nigeria to our desired haven.

What again.... Ohaneze should beg Abaribe, Reno & Ralph to cut soap for them.

Who knows if Jagaban has signed Kanu's cheque. Ipob will change their tone sharpaly. #Hungabad

Some inconsequential here on Nairaland should go and get their pvc b4 shouting in Obi we trust.

Anyway I keep my candidate to my chest. Lest Ipob send him their bile and bitterness missiles. grin grin. They don't care even if na one of them dem be ma candidate.

Igbos have not seen anything yet, you dedicated over 23 years to a party that never cares about you, they just want to use you like tissue paper and trash you just like that, even a government worker that serve in the public service collect pension and gratuity, but yours, it is now PDP knows you are unsellable and not popular in the north, although giving igbos the PDP ticket is deadly floorless and outright defeat because, no northern that you disdain and abuse as almajiris will vote for you

Nobody takes Ohaneze Ndigbo seriously.

1. There is no presidential primary election of a political party in Nigeria that has been exclusively contested by people from a geopolitical zone.

2. Are the Ohaneze Ndigbo expecting the PDP to zone its presidential ticket to a region with a high voter apathy?
For the records, Soludo won governorship election with less than 130,000 votes. If you get 150,000 in my Senatorial District, you will not win.

3. Funny how Ohaneze expected PDP to give its ticket to a region that treats other regions with so much hates and disdain.

4. When they started this Biafra of a thing late 2015, what was the position of Ohaneze? Did they disown themselves from it?

You can't be a pro biafra in the morning and become a pro Nigeria at night

Igbo deserve the pdp ticket
Pdp has been their home since 1999.

But it's scary for any party to give them the ticket.
