PDP was born out of necessity and needed a popular candidate that the North was at home with, hence Obasanjo's candidacy. Don't also forget the fact people like Ekwueme contested against him in the same primaries

there must be zoning because we have a set of people [northerners] that are numerous in number and can vote in an idiot simply because of they vote by sentiments. If it's thrown open, then it means only a northerner will continue to be Nigeria's president and the marginalisation of the south like in the case of Buhari would continue. This would mean more hardship and disunity worse than it is now. With the kind of country Nigeria is, zoning is mandatory.

SW are very power greedy people. The other time Governor Akeredolu convened a southern governors forum both from APC and PDP to demand that power be shifted to the south in 2023 in the spirit of fairness and equity.
The same SW leaders have changed the song to power must be given to South west. Why can't both south south and south west joined forces together to demand that presidency be zoned to SE in the spirit of fairness and equity?
