He only insinuated more fund from ecological funds to be released to parts of Lagos state
that were flooded in the past few days for rapid development and amelioration.
He was not asking for total state of emergency in terms of anarchy.

Please let us read articles well before criticizing.

It sadden me when i see people contributing as if the are kids. state of emergency in this context is for FG to help and not to interfere in the governance of such state. remember the senate president president even talked about ecological fund. saying the state involve should inform the central govt in time. mind u, the discussion was opened by an ACN member. let us always talk as enlighten fellows
Re: D.Mark Seeks Declaration Of State Of Emergency In Flooded Areas In Lagos by Mkpotu(m): 9:06am On Jul 15, 2011
People should stop exhibiting their ignorance on this thread. David Mark's call for a declaration of state of emergency in flooded areas in Lagos, does not mean the Governor will be removed. A state of emergency in this situation means that an urgent and focused attention should be given to those areas in Lagos by the Federal Government in order to avert similar occurrence.

Just like GEJ announced on assumption of office last year that he is declaring a state of emergency on power sector, though after all said and done not much was achieved.

oldtime:

Foolishness,  He wants to speak for Lagosian, As if he really cares, When it comes to Flood, which is not our real problem, they want to be heard, as though they care for the poor who has been at the receiving end of their Un-parliamentary representation Visionless men, band of men overtaken by fraud and moral turpitude, Myopic Politician, Irresponsible adolescent, irreligious clerics, the Pain of our contradictions, the cause of our woes, zealous errand boys who regard not their Lords (The People)
He must speak for us on Flood,
He would not, for Bad roads,
He must be heard because God sent rain,
But they will not correct the anomalies of their abnormal affluence in the face of national poverty and collective embarrassing shame called Nigeria
They will be quick on flood because they really would do nothing about it
But they will not talk of “Nepa” or “Power Holding”
They have not made any tangible marks on “Boko Haram” Yet without shame they want to comment on Flood, from Abuja
Or maybe his concerns are his Mansion at Ikoyi or Lekki and not really about the people in Ijora or Ikorodu.
Now that he has spoken, are the roads repaired, are the drainages ensured?
All they do is talk………………………,  Since I was born in this shame
A house is indeed not a Home, Nigeria is still a house with these confused men
Medicines after death, whereas, the death was caused by their negligence,
Thank you our lawbreakers

Sometimes, some men should just keep queit

wow, you waxed poetic on this one. i like!

well as for Mr David Mark, I am rather suprised at his speechlessnes on boko haram then sudden flash of insight on the flooding in far away lagos.Priorities, Mr Mark. Or you dey fear dem boko boys face.

This is why often times I don't understand politicians(even my older bros and uncles that are core politicians),I find it hard to understand what informs their thinking, ideas, decisions and actions.

Now why on earth will anyone be asking for a state of emergency in some parts of Lagos? Is it not more rational to declare one in Borno state first, then Bauchi and all the other Boko Haram infested states?

Mkpotu:

A state of emergency in this situation means that an urgent and focused attention should be given to those areas in Lagos by the Federal Government in order to avert similar occurrence.

Such focused attention tends to be at cross purposes with the efforts being made by the local autority and it hampers their effort, the result is mostly confusion and disagreement that will not allow any reasonable work to be done, especially as Nigerian oppostion parties are involved

The Senate President, Senator David Mark on Thursday pushed for the declaration of a State of Emergency in areas affected by last weekend torrential downpour in Lagos and other parts of the country.
The Senate President, who spoke at the end of the motion on Flood Disaster in Lagos State, moved by Senator Ganiyu Solomon, said the Federal Government should be ready to use the ecological fund to assist the affected states in their time of needs.

YOU are the one reading with your dull brain down-turned in a sinistral orthogonal direction.

may be you should read the article again. i dont know why NL if full of retards cry cry cry

The flood in Lagos state should be the least of the problems the FG should attend to for now. Fashola has been able to show us that he is capable of attending to/solving the problems Lagos is having.

The Presidency/Law makers(breakers) should concentrate on solving the teaming problems Nigeria is facing, you guys should wake up, there is fire on the mountain in Nigeria, yet you guys are still thinking of taking over Lagos state from ACN.
In short Nigeria needs to break like South Sudan.
The Muslims don't want the Christians mingling with them, and they will kill and maim for this, they have demonstrated this countless times.

Boko haram doesn't want western education, they cant tolerate alcohol ,yet alcohol is a normal thing in the south, especially SS, so why are we still together?

Socio-cultural and Religious differences is what we are experiencing in this country, coupled with incompetency and embezzlement/misappropriation of funds.

Incompetency in the sense that majority of our politicians does not even know what they are doing, they lack the ability to solve the problems we are facing, they are not fit for the exalted positions at which they find themselves.

@ jimmyho and Mpkotu, you may both have a point, but, pray tell, how much better does declaring a state of emergency in Lagos make the situation better, taking into consideration the Federal Government's reputation a regards disasters. When has declaring a state of emergency ever actually made things better in this country? As you, Mpkotu pointed out, we have not witnessed much of an improveent in the power sector since bros J declared a state of emergency in thatsector last year. So why not leave thoughts of declaring states of emergency in places where the government is known to actually work and focus on borno that is much, much closer. If the federal government wants to render assistance to Lagos state, they should do it already, instead of wasting time in panel and sittings and filling our newspapers with ridiculous proposals that reek of misplaced priorities.ear. We all knw dat Fashola is capable of handling d issue alone even if all d PDP governors are askd 2 leave their respective states & concentrate on Lagos, they can not do better than him(Fashola).
Senate presido pls declare d much needed state of emergency in Borno & leave Lagos alone.

I hereby declare a state of emergency in Abuja and as such, declare that GEJ should vacate the Aso Rock. He should hand over to the CJN. LOL
