You overlooking one minor details partner in 1965 both parties switch sides. Trump party as it presently constituted hates your guts. I am not a Democrat far from it. But if I have to choose between the two parties I will hold my nose and go with the Democrats. The Republicans have gone completely off the rail and getting close to been declare as being comatose. A party that relies solely on the white votes in order to win in a multicultural ethnic society is committing political malpractice. White people are 65 - 70 % of the population for Republicans to win they will need to win 85% of the total white votes and that ain't happening. Obama won twice winning just 28% of the white votes. George Bush father was the last Republican to win the popular votes. They have been lucky so far winning via Electoral College votes. And time is running on that formula.
