NYSC program should be scrapped. It's a waste of time and energy.

After graduation, and students are mobilized for NYSC, FG should just issue nysc certificate and 1 year allowance (₦33,000 x 12 months = ₦396,000) over to the prospective Corp members.

The money would be useful for entrepreneurial skills acquisition that will equip graduates to become self employed, and further create business opportunities for themselves. (Atleast for those who are serious minded)

You got sense.

They should hand over the money in capital to prospects, that way, they can use it to start up anything they want.

Lies from the pit of hell, nothing unite Nigeria except soccer. NYSC has long outlived it usefulness and the aim has long been defeated. It should therefore be scrapped. #SCRAP NYSC and save the lives of Nigerian graduates. Only paid youths will protest against the call to scrap NYSC.

Hoe is waste of precious one year useful? Instead of you advocate for better Naija where you even get a job before you graduate.
I served, so did my friends and it favoured us all.

The NYSC program is more about the service to be delivered to the country than the money and certificate paid.

How can you scrap the service out of it but not the money and certificate. If it will be scrapped it should be in totality like everything.

If you scrap NYSC, the North will be lacking in school teachers and some private schools down South. It's okay to scrap it or reduce it to geopolitical zones.

You can always travel to meet people. Lol.

North is extremely dangerous now. They can't say they are continuing the program while excluding those states.
That's exactly how Northerners think about south.

Let me begin like this. Asiide the military no other institution has been able to bring a semblance of unity as the NYSC. Yes it has its downside but we should not throw out the bathwater with the baby. I would that we agitate for solutions to the inherent problems.
I pray that Naija starts to work.

Mark my words, NYSC can never be scrapped as more Northerners are in power and he of affairs in the scheme and again it favours the Northern educational system as most ghost workers teaches will stay put at home with no threat to their free monthly allowee.

Re: Youths Protest Against Demands To Scrap NYSC by GloriousGbola: 4:00pm On Aug 06, 2022
These ones are paid youths jare. At least those from the south. NYSC is simply a waste of a year of one's life, and worse than this, it is a year of risk to life. So many corpers have been lynched in the North. Others have been kidnapped and raped in different parts of the country

Shebi the governors want to save money - theybcan start by advising that NYSC be scrapped. This will save the country billions and will give so many parents peace of mind.

Only losers will be the north, for whom nysc is the only way they can get teachers for so many of their village schools. Which is why it will be resisted
Re: Youths Protest Against Demands To Scrap NYSC by Panda7(m): 4:05pm On Aug 06, 2022

smiley smileyExactly, NYSC is a waste of time, it should be scrapped, its puts graduate in danger and waste their time.

They should replace it with skills development program for the youths in the state where they studied, graduate should not be travelling about to be used by kidnappers.

I did my NYSC, and i did skill developments by myself, it is what enhanced my future, not that useless NYSC program, where they sometimes send people to unsafe places.

Or they can make NYSC Optional, for those who need it.

That NYSC nonsense should be scrapped. It is another useless program use to siphon money. And it is a waste of precious year. Graduates start earning money immediately in other countries while in Nigeria a year is wasted doing some military shit.

The purpose NYSC is to send people to another region away from theirs to learn about other culture. Today everybody works on deploying, what's the essence of the program? Not sure anyone eats the useless food they serve them.
