Ethiopia has managed to deliver Sub-Saharan Africa’s first modern light rail project which opened in the capital Addis Ababa on Sunday, and in the process, beat Lagos whose own rail project remains four years behind schedule.

Ethiopia’s rail project was delivered on time, despite its being longer than the Lagos – Badagry rail line currently under construction.

Addis Ababa’s two line 34-kilometre system was built by the China Railway Engineering Corporation (CREC) and cost $475m, 85 percent of which has been covered by China’s Exim bank. The Lagos Light Rail Project or Blue on Badagry Expressway, was to have 13 stations from Okokomaiko to Marina via Iddo for a total of 27 kilometres.

The contract was awarded to the Chinese Civil Engineering Construction Company (CCECC) at the cost of $1.2 billion in 2008, and was to be delivered in 2011. Survey work took one year between August 2009 and August 2010 while construction began July 2010.

The work is being implemented using the public and private partnership (PPP) model, whereby the state builds the infrastructure and the private sector provides the rolling stock and management. However, the project has not worked out according to the plan.
The 2011 deadline was missed, even though the State government got a loan to fund the project.

This is a stupid comment to be honest. But you just want to say something to appear like you are making sense.

To be very honest, Lagos is a city built by Nigeria. Everyone's money from North, west, east and south contributed to what Lagos is today. All these investments from Nigeria made Lagos the hub of many businesses and services not available in other parts of Nigeria. For this reason many people across Nigeria have houses in Lagos to enable them easily access these numerous services that Lagos offers which are not available in other cities in Nigeria. Therefore it shouldn't be surprising to anyone that Peter Obi has a house in Lagos and spends time there to access these services.

Tinubu doesn't need a house in Anambra because there is nothing he needs in Anambra that that will make it necessary to own a house there. Anambra never benefited from capital inflows from Nigeria and abroad so it is a small town that has nothing to offer Tinubu.

Lol Obituary fans and speaking rubbish is like 5 & 6. Between 1999 and 2007 when Tinubu was governor, per capital several states received more funds than Lagos state.

In fact the SS states receive so much money that they should have been developed just as Lagos even if their economy won’t be the same as that of Lagos.

Tinubu is a man that knows how to create wealth and expand revenue. Lagos of 1999 is just banking on past glory, the revenue base is so low and the disorganization is just too much. Tinubu brought the investments of the future and pushed the state away from mediocrity.
