Abu Bakr the first Caliph ruled for 2 years during which he started the first compilation and he completed it before he died and kept it.

The second caliph Umar ruled for 10 years from 634-644AD and he was in custody of manuscripts until he died after which Hafsa his daughter kept custody of it.

During the rule of Uthman (who ruled 12years after Muhammad had died) that is more than 12 years after the first Quran was compiled. Uthman ruled for 12years so in between those 12 years while he was ruling, people called his attention to the different ways people were reciting the Quran (which has been the norm even when Muhammad was alive and he didn't think of unifying the Quran into one dialect because Muhammad himself said the Quran was revealed to him in 7 different dialects)


But Uthman decided to unify the Quran into one standardized version when neither Allah nor Muhammad gave him such Instruction when he was alive.

The writers of the new testament weren't domiciled in one location; Paul died in Rome, John died in the island of Patmos and so on.

It took fourteen years for Jerome to go round the then known world and rake up the writings of Christ's disciples and apostles.

Jerome gathered thousands of letters, memoirs, diaries, autobiographies and, biographies allegedly written by Christ's disciples and apostles.

The church had to convene a council to select and decide which is true and fake. After the selections were made and canonized, the Masoretics( a group of scholars empowered by the Jews to gather and out the scriptures together) got angry that the church was deviating in adding writings that wasn't proven, e.g the books of Revelation, Hebrews, 2&3 John, Jude and so on.

The writers of the new testament weren't domiciled in one location; Paul died in Rome, John died in the island of Patmos and so on.

It took fourteen years for Jerome to go round the then known world and rake up the writings of Christ's disciples and apostles.

Jerome gathered thousands of letters, memoirs, diaries, autobiographies and, biographies allegedly written by Christ's disciples and apostles.

The church had to convene a council to select and decide which is true and fake. After the selections were made and canonized, the Masoretics( a group of scholars empowered by the Jews to gather and out the scriptures together) got angry that the church was deviating in adding writings that wasn't proven, e.g the books of Revelation, Hebrews, 2&3 John, Jude and so on.

They decided to over haul the New Testament in total and maintained the TANAK. What we call the, Old Testament.

A lot of councils has been set up by the church over the years to review the New Testament and, in each council, lots of books were axed, like the, acts of Paul, the acts of Mary Magdalene, the acts of Peter and many others.

What we call the New Testament has come a long way. Orthodox Christians don't have the books of Revelation and Jude in their Bible, Catholics has the books of, Wisdom, Search, Tobith, Maccabees 1&2 about 72 in all, while Protestant followed the Jamian canon which has 66 books.

So, you just can say what is original or not where it concerns the New Testament.
Because few years after the dead of Jesus, a lot of sects arose with their own writings claiming to hear directly from the holy spirit.

The Gnostic and the Arians are examples of sects that arose in the first century and tried to corrupt the teachings of Christs.

But one solace we have is that the couldn't touch the part where Christ himself said, "the holy spirit will teach you ALL truths."

I dont belive the gnostics corrupted the word. . I have read the gnostics gospels of Philip, Thomas, Mary of magdala, apocryphon of John, origin of the archon, Gospel of judas iscariot, revelations of Peter & writings of James the brother of jesus(and leader of the desciples after the death of jesus) it all makes sense. The Romans and the Jews killed jesus and had been killing Christians, how do you now trust them to the extent of them compiling your bible and giving you their own sabbath day to worship. Ask the very important question. Why were the Romans killing Christians to establish its christian Catholic church? If you read those gnostics gospels you will never be a contemporary Christian

It was this same KJV that Bishop Àjàyí Crowder translated to Yoruba with all the defects! And other languages have their version.

Most books written in 400 AD did not survive. But praise to God we have copies of it.
