I am thinking about relocating to FL later in the year or early this year. Anyone in Miami here? I should be coming for a conference late sept/early october and will take that time to really check out the city. I presently live in Washington DC area. Any take on relocating to the city? Any Nairaland member around there that will be available to hang out?

I went to school in Tampa, FL and we used to go to Miami and Orlando all the time. You would love Miami if u like d sun, beautiful palms, lakes and the ocean/beaches. And yea miami is also known for beautiful women too hahaha. Florida is cheaper to live in general, compared to DC, but I think d salaries r less too compared to DC so u would have to see for urself. Guess check apartmentguide/realtors to see housing cost and d rest is pretty much d same nationwide.

I heard that things are expensive there and that the overall experience is overrated. Is it true?

As I said things r cheaper in Florida overall than DC. U should check apartmentguide.com for rental prices and figure out ur tax burden and decide. But price of milk/cable/bread would b same as every other city.
