Consultants as we call them here, are called attendings there, they have completed residency and gained experience in a specialty and passed the required certifying exams for that specialty, and they are surgeons not just primary care physicians.

Read this to gain some perspective. The exams to pass to become a primary care physician alone, na first hurdle that most of the Americans sef find it difficult to cross. Then comes residency and choosing a specialty where/when the big bucks come in. There is a reason most Nigerians healthcare professionals choose the UK, it is far far easier. That said if you are able to scale those hurdles in the US and complete the residency, the pay is hoooooge, especially when the student loans have finally been paid off. This is to let you be aware that no be say any docs as we know them go just enter US and start earning 200k plus. Nah! Not how it works.

This is where you are mixing it up. Consider the ratio of those who can further their careers to those who drop out. You need to understand the process to practice as a doctor in the US. It is hectic and very discouraging. Even if you pass all relevant exams, it is still not straightforward.

All doctors i know who had left are regretting that they did not make decisions to leave earlier.

Ordinary Nurse in my family that left for the US ,5 years ago ,has finished a 5 bedroom duplex with 3bedroom bungalow and a gateman house ,all in the same compound in my village ,fully fenced with solar power...bought lands ,set up her brothers business very well,dont mind that guy.

The most an average person would use is full tank of gas in a week and that is about $60 for the biggest SUVs . A month would be $240.

Is that too much for someone who earns about $20k a month?

My advice to fellow Nigerians is eat well, exercise & try as much as possible to avoid exposing urself to dangers unnecessarily e.g swaggingly crossing roads when cars dey pass.


Cause currently, even d cheapest federal hospital charges U #2000 per day on d most cheapest hospital bed as opposed to less than #400 of b4

Oga, I am telling from first hand experience, Nigeria school hard pass US school. I am a product of both.
The standard they are talking about in that article is about structure . Theirs is well structured and every detail must be followed. The only reason a new Nigerian immigrant would find it difficult is because of the regulatory aspect , ethics, culture, governing bodies, coding, insurance, EMR and other things that are different from Nigeria

Not all are facing the "reality". Though the reality may be hard for some, i doubt they are hungering to come home.
