Why not toll Lagos/Ibadan expressway for proper maintenance? Why not toll Abuja/Kaduna highway for proper maintenance?

So, it's only when federal government builds any infrastructure in the SE that they would remember tolling for proper maintenance? SMH.

The civil war is still raging. Only a few understand.

WE HEAR ALOT ABOUT 2ND NIGER BRIDGE, BECAUSE THAT IS THE ONLY PROJECT DONE BY FEDERAL GOVERENMENT IN SOUTH EAST IN THE PAST 8 TO 14 YEARS.

THEY STILL NEVER COMPLETE THE BRIDGE AND ALREADY WANT PEOPLE CROSSING THE BRIDGE TO REFUND THEM THE MONEY.

NOW TELL ME, WHY SE SHOULD REMAIN IN NIGERIA, WHEN WE CAN PAY TO BUILD OUR OWN BRIDGE?

THEY BUILD RAILWAY IN ALL REGION BUT SE GOT NONE.

THEY TAKE LOAN, THAT SE WILL PAY BUT DID NOT INCLUDE SE IN THE PROJECTS.

Nigeria is currently owing over 22 trillion, most of which was accumulated by the Buhari govt.

Buhari used those monies to build projects in other regions free of charge and asked eastern taxpayers to join in the debt repayment.

The only major project he did in the south East was not included in the all the loans that Buhari got.

The south east would pay for their own bridge themselves.

May God punish anybody that says Buhari gifted the south east anything.

Nigerian leaders are useless. You can imagine how much they'd have made, had the fed roads been tolled. I still don't understand why they removed toll gates. The American system of government which they adopted is turned upside down cos america till today tolls their roads. Shebi they'd have been using the revenues generated to maintain our fed roads, instesd of always borrowing to do so

Toll roads they can't provide security for its users?
Re: Second Niger Bridge Users Will Pay Toll - FG by CSTRR: 8:46am On Dec 22, 2022
Even the portharcourt- maiduguri railway has been officially scrapped.

Despite all the plenty loans that Buhari got, he could not include that project inside.

Buhari really dealt with southern NIGERIA.

It still builds down to insensitive government. When we had toll gates, there were federal highway patrol teams , working day and night on the highways. That's why we're asking everyone to vote wisely next year to change the current narrative

I hope the 365km road from Abuja to Kano would also be tolled. Imagine a 365km road constructed and APC has been salivating on a bridge less than 10km
There is nothing to toll on that road..There are lots of bad portions on the road..

BUHAR WENT TO BORROW MONEY THAT HE WILL LOOT FOR HIS CHILDREN YET UNBORN.

EVERY PROJECT THEY MUST ADD THEIR OWN SHARE.

THAT IS WHY 2ND NIGER BRIDGE IS TAKING 14 YEARS TO COMPLETE.

IF BUHARI RETURNS HIS LOOT, NO NEED FOR TOLL GATE.

Not just that, why not toll third mainland bridge and the newly constructed River Benue bridge, which is even longer than the River Niger. Nawaooo, federal government is not being fair to South Easterners. Anyways, Igbo politicians are complete morons, honestly.

Tolling is good to ensure maintenance of the highway. Government agencies are filled with criminals, they won't maintain the road, but concession will ensure maintenance and service on the road.

Good. According to Fashola, Lagos-Ibadan expressway will also be tolled when completed. It’s seems that is their new policy now.

Anyone that do not wish to pay toll at the second Niger bridge should jump into the River Niger and swim across or better still make use of the previous bridge.

You should trust the Igbos, now. Just watch, they will abandon the newly constructed, and make do with the former.

Governments constantly run a budget deficit, at every level. So for those who might say 'how about tax' no, taxes aren't always enough.

Toll bridges are a little different. Big bridges are incredibly expensive to construct, so the builders need a way to recuperate that enormous loss of cash. Whether the bridge was built by a government, the private sector, or a partnership of the two, projects like that are only viable if they can partially pay for themselves through tolls. For example, the Ambassador Bridge (the busiest crossing on the USA_ Canada states border) is 100% privately owned, and earns the owner about $60,000,000 per year in revenue.
In theory, the tolls pay for repairs, maintenance, and upgrades for the road. In practice, however, abuses occurs. Occasionally the toll money goes to projects besides the road itself. But generally the toll roads are better maintained and thus less wear and tear on.

Truth is, government has to recover part of the cost of making new highways. It must not be forever. After 10 years it should be discontinued.
It depends on how construction and maintenance was financed. Every so often, the taxpayers agree to build a bridge. Other times they may object to the cost and only agree to partial funding. In that case, people using the bridge are charged a toll until the costs are paid off. In some cases, it’s never paid off.

Even the crimean bridge built by Russia in all its splendor isn't taxed

This effectively makes it the only federal infrastructure built by this administration that its users will pay before using. Una well done.

I don't blame you people though - I blame Goodluck Jonathan for coming up with the idea - even the almighty 3rd Mainland Bridge in Lagos is not tolled.

Question to be asked is Abuja to Kano road...is it toiled? If not, then why is the road to 2nd Niger Bridge to be toiled?
