In fact, the actual complaint is not the defective buses, but the refusal of the company to evacuate the failed ones and replace them. Again I ask, would you rather they dragged them to Court or what would you suggest? Should local producers be left free to run riot since local production is now carte Blanche to misbehave?

If they can do this to the government, what about you and I? So these are the issues. Development is not on the shoulders of government alone. Citizens too, like Innoson must play their part by making the best use of opportunities. The car industry has a regulator. There is a difference between a disgruntled "customer" complaining and a GOVT agency running to the media to run down its biggest car marker for an industry that's trying to find its foot even after this is sorted. And you want Innosson to be like Toyota. The government of Japan funded Toyota why innoson started and funded itself from the scratch.

Firstly, it is one bus, not 30.
Secondly, even if the agency paid 500000 naira per bus, that shouldn't be reason for the bus not to serve the purpose. After all, Innoson sold the buses at a price it considered profitable

The car industry has a regulator. There is a difference between a disgruntled "customer" complaining and a GOVT agency running to the media to run down its biggest car marker for an industry that's trying to find its foot even after this is sorted. Years to come this will remain a reference point even for other countries. This crab mentality must stop.

If the chief complaint was over defective vehicles, then yes this could be referred to regulators. However, the agency is not even trying to down that route.

This is not a vehicle manufacturing issue. This is a simple contractual issue - I paid for service, I deserve service. sImple.

Now yes the government and all it's agencies should not destroy local industries, similarly, local producers have a responsibility to at least do the bare minimum. It costs Innoson absolutely nothing to evacuate faulty buses and replace them. What operational challenges could justify not doing so?

So you can't leave the major failing here and focus on the reactive failing in order to paint the picture of being marginalised. Stop it! That is to say, one who means well for Nigeria should first caution Innoson to do the right thing, before quarreling with their disgruntled customer for calling them out.
