The February 25th presidential and national assembly elections which have become controversial due to the inglorious roles of the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) have revealed the true colour of INEC and reinvented Nigeria’s leadership problem which has been the bane of the Nigerian nation. In the same vein, the February 25 elections have also exposed the gullibility of Nigerians even in the face of perennial executive disappointments. The Nigerian electorate has suffered a series of electoral frauds in which their votes never counted since the history of franchise in Nigeria.

This led to general loss of confidence and interest in the electoral system which, over the years, culminated into a culture of impervious voter apathy. In the 2019 general elections which preceded the 2023 general elections, Nigeria ranked tops in voter apathy in Africa. Before 2023, one often finds Nigerians of the age of franchise engaging in pastimes on election days notwithstanding the crucial significance of voting. When confronted, a typical apathetic Nigerian voter would always retort that there was no need casting votes that would not count.

This became a great challenge for both the electoral commission and the Nigerian government. With time, conduct of credible elections became a flagship promise of several administrations, hence the periodic amendments of the electoral act aimed at giving hope of credible elections. The high point of these amendments of the electoral law in Nigeria was the introduction of the Bimodal Voters Accreditation System (BVAS), and electronic transmission of election results directly from polling units in the 2022 Electoral Act! These two clauses were the catalysts that reawakened Nigerians’ interests in the electoral process.

Consequently, Nigerians of the age of suffrage who did not register as voters abandoned their respective engagements for days in order to register as voters. This sent the first signal to the Nigerian political elites that they were under the threat of being dislodged from their comfort zone where they have so much underperformed.

The entrance of Mr. Peter Obi into the presidential race on the platform of the Labour Party and the ripples he created in the polity with his charismatic campaigns brought the threats home to the cult of mischievous Nigerian political elites. As a result, the political elites recoiled and began the frustration of the new political system.

They found willing allies in INEC. In this column published on January 14 and entitled “INEC And The Conspiracy Against Democracy”, I had alerted Nigerians of this negative alliance in the following words: “The political re-awakening, enthusiasm and positive pressure arising from the new legal framework or electoral act do not seem to suit the Nigerian political elites who constitute the prime beneficiaries of the old defective order. Consequently, the gerontocrats that populate the Nigerian political elite club seem to have recoiled into their covens to hatch a plan to jolt the successful implementation of the revolutionary electoral act.

These politicians seem to have willing conspirators in some sensitive officers of INEC whose leadership appears to be dominated by agents of the now threatened old political brigade. “Having seemingly hacked into the over-rated INEC, these enemies of the unfolding new Nigeria muted the electoral umpire in a conspiracy of silence designed to frustrate the successful conduct of the make-or-mar 2023 general elections! As a result of this novel conspiracy, INEC refused to volunteer necessary information or call attention to relevant issues that required to be solved in order to facilitate successful conduct of the 2023 general elections in line with the extant provisions of Electoral Act 2022.” The bizarre drama which characterised the conduct and collation of the 2023 presidential and national assembly elections are stubborn proofs that the conspiracy of INEC and the Nigerian political elites have succeeded in ruining what was otherwise an excellent electoral system. As usual, the conspirators who have promoted deceit to creed had no problems making the trust and confidence which Nigerians reposed both in INEC and the leadership of the country the casualties of this electoral fraud.

However, it is pertinent to state that hapless Nigerian citizens played into the hands of INEC by failing to hold INEC to follow her rules during the elections! The 2023 Electoral Act made the polling units the only political theatre for all the elections. According to it, through the use of BVAS and electronic transmission of poll results from the polling units on election days, an election could be won, lost, concluded, cancelled or rescheduled. In subsequent elections, Nigerians should insist on the right things in the right venues.

Moving open-ended elections or polls away from the polling units under any guise was an act of rigging and illegality. Results of elections not conducted with BVAS and or not transmitted through BVAS from the polling unit was null and void. Allowing INEC staff leave the polling unit without transmitting the results or formally declaring the election inconclusive or cancelled is an act of compromise on the part of the electorate of that particular polling unit.

It was this condonation of the illegality of moving ongoing elections from polling units that offered INEC and her officials the opportunity to mercilessly rig the elections like they have don make-or-mar 2023 general elections! As a result of this novel conspiracy, INEC refused to volunteer necessary information or call attention to relevant issues that required to be solved in order to facilitate successful conduct of the 2023 general elections in line with the extant provisions of Electoral Act 2022.”

Tinubu urchins should not rejoice yet. We sane Nigerians will reclaim our mandate stolen by Tinubu.

We shall reclaim our mandate by the grace of God.

Tinubu stole our mandate, but the only thing we will tell him is "Delay is not denial.

We sane Nigerians have only one thing to tell Tinubu,"Weeping may tarry for the night, but joy comes with the morning.

Fingers crossed 💯

Oga they never played us the Obidients.
We only played a sucker to catch a sucker: we played dumber to them

For their minds we no wise abi? We are a new party, we no sabi rig, we no sabi go to court 😂😂

But let me give you a tip of the iceberg. There were millions of Nigerians accredited at their Polling units, and the accreditation data in the BVAS machines will prove that. They voted and their votes were not transmitted from the Polling units to the IReV because of the so called glitch bla bla. That's fine, and results were collated manually. Now where are the results as the total votes from the local governments did not correspond to the number of voters who were accredited at the Polling units. So after accreditation they changed their mind and went home and refused to vote, some decided to go clubbing, fishing or hunting 😂😂

Now if you said they voted, where are their votes?
There were local governments, wards in Imo State where absolutely no elections took place, but results were called. So BVAS machines used in those places must prove the ghosts that were accredited and how those ghosts voted in those polling units and whom they voted for.

The 2023 presidential elections had the greatest collections of PVCs since 1999 at 93% of 87 million total registered voters and yet the overall percentage of votes dropped to 27% lower than 35% recorded in 2019, whereas observers keep sustaining the fact the presidential elections of 25th February witnessed the highest turn-outs of voters since the return of Democracy in Nigeria. Some Observers have always been appointed by the EU to observe elections in Nigeria since 1999 elections.

Percentage of overall turn-outs was projected to be 45%, many of them were either disenfranchised, deliberately, by late arrivals of electoral officials, by thugs who hijacked the electoral process at the affected polling units and in many polling units INEC officials never showed up at all. Those who actually voted; their votes were slashed to favour the candidate declared the winner. There are about 10 million votes unaccounted for...and they belonged to Mr. Obi or Mr. Abubakar, because if they belonged to Mr. Tinubu, INEC for add am for him, to further increase his winning margin. Moreso, Mr. Tinubu is insisting the elections were free and fair, so not even one of his votes is missing....😂😂

Two groups of people that conspired to ruin the election of our nation

1. The corrupt and fraudulent INEC officials.
Not all INEC officials are involved in this monumental fraud.

2. Corrupt , greedy, selfish desperate and wicked politicians who do not care about Nigeria.

Both INEC and the corrupt politicians played into the hands of Nigerians with that monumental fraud which will not see the light of the day.

They have awakened the sleeping lions in Nigerians.
They have awakened Nigeria to wake up and stand up for the new Nigeria.

INEC is criminal organisation run by corrupt thieves who even broke their own law. ..

Election results not transmitted in Real-time is null and void. It is a criminal act.

Mahmoud Yakubu's INEC played into the hands of those who never trusted their impartiality when Nigerians caught them 'LIKING" posts that insulted Labour party and Peter Obi on twitter even before the elections.

Even today, they have started deleting all their previous posts because it indicted them as a partial and criminal electoral organisation.

Tinubu should expect a rough days ahead, the implications of rigging and imposing himself on Nigerians. When Wike told Atiku winning the PDP primaries " now that you have the ticket, let me see how you will win the presidential". Many will do everything to sabotage Tinubu because he didn't win on popular mandate but was imposed by INEC, including the threat from Shittima who is already eyeing the seat.
It's going to be a tough days for Tinubu.

Nigerians didn't played into the hands of INEC but simply did what an average patriotic citizen would have done-get PVC and trust the electoral umpire to maintain a neutral stance.

Alas! That was never to be. INEC simply became a criminal agency of government masquerading as the 19th political party to brazen rig election for APC.

If it were up to me, elections would be done online so as to eliminate rigging completely.

There are several secured servers online INEC can host its site to prevent hacking.

INEC can then generate a one time token for Nigerians to login with their voters card and vote online.

All these hassles of corruption, would disappear, and it would increase the quality of candidates we would have.

Now I understand why does Youth Corpers were killed in Bauchi during 2011 Election...The consequence of all these hubbub is the fact that INEC just became a target to the general populace, who would want their pound of flesh..... Gubernatorial election will be very bloody...I pity Youth Corpers..

Story story. What on earth was charismatic about Obi's drab campaigns accompanied with oversized venues? Did the BVAS not work or accredit voters? What's with all the much ado about IREV? It seems the writer just learned that word "bizarre" as he used it uselessly a couple of times.
IREV is akin to an alert on bank transactions. It is not the core, we've been doing elections without it. If you want to withdraw money from your account, you might get a debit alert(IREV) before the cashier gives you the money. You might also get the alert hours later or the next day after physical collection. The main thing is to get the cash. If there's difference between the alert and physical money, maybe you can resolve. But making drama that you must receive alert before receiving cash or leaving bank premises is absurd.

Ibos are pained. These motherfuckers voted for Obi 95% in the south east not sparing to vote for APC or PDP. They lost, a distance 3rd and still crying that they were cheated.

They are calling for a run off or cancelation of the election so as to correct the political mistake they made.

It's not really the defeat that pained them but the ascension of a Yoruba man, a record 2nd time while they never smelt or come close to being crowned the president. To them, they prefer Atiku than for another Yoruba man to be president. All their noise is sponsored by hate for Yoruba tribe. They can not bear the sight of a Yoruba ruling them.

They simply shot themselves on the foot.

In future, BVAS must be adapted to capture thumbprints for electronic voting.
Nigerians & polithiefcians are just too dishonest for manual collation of results.
