Candidate of the Labour Party, LP, Mr Peter Obi, on Friday, secured leave of the Court of Appeal sitting in Abuja to have access to all the sensitive materials the Independent National Electoral Commission, INEC, deployed for the conduct of the presidential election that held on February 25.

The appellate court, which will sit as the Presidential Election Petition Tribunal, equally ordered the electoral body to also grant the presidential candidate of the Peoples Democratic Party, PDP, access to the election materials.

A panel of the appellate court led by Justice Joseph Ikyegh made the orders after it heard two separate ex-parte applications the two aggrieved presidential candidates filed alongside their political parties.

Cited as Respondents in the matter were INEC, the acclaimed winner of the presidential election, Bola Tinubu, as well as his party, the All Progressives Congress, APC.

Both applications were predicated on Section146 (1) of the Electoral Act 2022, Paragraph 47 (1, 2 &3) of the First Schedule of the Electoral Act of 2022, as well as under the inherent jurisdiction of the Court as referenced by Section 6 (6) A & B of the 1999 Constitution, as amended.

While Obi, in his application that was moved by his team of lawyers led by Mr Alex Ejesieme, SAN, sought six principal reliefs, on the other hand, Atiku’s lawyer, Mr Adedamola Faloku, sought seven prayers from the tribunal.

Specifically, the applicants urged the court to compel INEC to allow them to obtain documents in its custody that were used for the presidential election.

They maintained that the requested documents would aid their petition against the outcome of the presidential contest that was declared in favour of the candidate of the APC, Tinubu.

It will be recalled that INEC had declared Tinubu of the APC as the winner of the presidential poll, ahead of 17 other candidates that contested the election.

According to INEC, Tinubu scored a total of 8,794,726 votes to defeat Atiku who polled a total of 6,984,520 votes and Obi of the LP who came third with a total of 6,101,533 votes.

Both PDP and LP had since rejected the outcome of the election and vowed to challenge it in court.

😁

Let the battle begin!

Too many irregularities in the election, from not uploading polling unit results to portal, ballot box snatching, mutilation, announced results by Inec not in tandem with polling unit result form EC8A held by party agents, declaring Bola Ahmed Tinubu’s winner despite not having 25% in the FCT and Inec chairman not verifying the figures uploaded with the manual form submitted before announcing.

Tinubu is about to be disgraced worldwide!

The move now is great until the court gives judgement in favour of BAT. That is how the mind of an average Obidense works grin

Good one. Obi and Atiku should try their best. But Presidential elections, no matter how flawed, have never been cancelled in Nigeria before! With all the glaring loopholes, this is an interesting case and test of the Supreme Court.

Good...

Inspect your failure Mr irredeemable failure.

The only rightful person to inspect how he failed is Atiku.

After inspection, he will realize the reason for his failure is because of Pandora and the G5.

Obi is just chasing clout .

Conduct this election one million times, Asiwaju will win all so long the Pandora is on the ballot competing against Atiku in East.

A supposed leader was elected SELECTED and the supposed country was as silent as a graveyard, like the country just lost one of her greatest citizen.

No form of celebration, the youths which are the backbone of every COUNTRY were grieving. No celebration, no joy, no crazy exhibition as when Buhari won in 2015. My years in the North, there has always been CRAZY form of celebration whenever a leader is elected... But nothing of such happened this week.

This is a clear indication that this was liken to a woman who rejected a man sexual advances but she was raped and forced to marry the villain... instead marriage celebration, the entire village was mourning.

I've never advocate for people to leave the country before, but as it stands! the country is hopeless as long as the numbers of dunce as citizens exceeds the intelligence ones and she practices DEMOCRACY... There's no hope, and there won't any hope for the nation in the future.
The dunce will procreate more dunces as posterity and the vicious circle continuous till infinity.

Democratically, The North determines who rules Nigeria and the 98% of northerners are like herd animals/minions without independent minds of their owns. The rely solemnly on their leader(s), whatever he says that's what they do, regardless of the consequences.

The Yorubas/Igbos are just plain stupid and blinded by hate sowed among them by the north... while the north sat-back and watched them tore themselves apart with hates and tribal slurs...and the north laugh their asses out of amusement. A PERFECT POLITICAL STRATEGY.

This election has opened my eyes to a lot realties, Nigeria is NEVER GOING to change, the problem isn't LEADERSHIP... A terrible seed was planted at her foundation and it has blossoms beyond expectations, the roots has spread beyond reached.

Nigeria is standing on a faulty, polluted and rotten foundation.
