Many students do not realize the importance of writing a cover letter or they do not know how to write one properly.

I am sharing an effective template for writing a cover letter.

You can make edits to this according to your experience, and knowledge and use it as a base.

You should not just copy-paste a cover letter but also understand the essence of it and the reason behind every word in it.

Cover letters vary as per your job roles.

3 Myths derailing Job Seekers.

Some candidates complain that there are no jobs around but the few opportunities opened are ignored. Some allow the social media space misguide them in making decisions. Don’t be your worst enemy tailor guiding your life with SM stories.

1. Accepting low salary is slavery.
Don’t let Social media fool you that you shouldn’t accept low salary at entry points. Use this opportunity to gather more experience. I know the economy is tough but remember there are so many candidates out there pushing for same thing.

2. If you have Gap years, shoot down any offer belittling your position and experience.

Unfortunately, some HR practitioners are yet to come to terms that gap years are great learning period.

Don’t let some people’s experience mislead you. Accept this in the interim and use it to re-enter the workspace. We all wouldn’t have the same sweet story. Unfortunately, that’s life. Remember Your story, Your personal journey.

3. Immediately turn down any offer not meeting your expectations.

Look at your career Journey, would this impact positively on your career, if yes! Engage! Engage! Engage to Negotiate and be mindful of what you are negotiating on.

This write-up is as a result of 3 people reaching out to me during the course of 2 weeks regretting their decisions on Job Offers made to them.

Tried as much as I could to reach out to some of the organizations on their behalf with the aim of bringing them back to the table to re-negotiate but the damage have been done.

👉🏽Life is in stages!

👉🏽Take time and plan your career growth and don’t go with the bandwagons.

👉🏽Some come online to sell you falsehood! Own your story!

👉🏽Starting small is not a misnomer!

👉🏽If you can’t earn much now, ensure you are learning much!

Don’t turn down now and regret later and be in the job market to later accept something more lower than was offered a year ago.

This was me thinking 🤔 out loud.

Maybe I would have graduated with a first class Honors 🎖 instead of a third class Honors if I had gone through university of Creativity & Innovation.

Maybe I would have graduated with an excellent grade if only our educational system isn't programed the same way for everyone since we are all different and unique in our own different ways.

Albert Einstein once said "Everybody is a genius, but if you judge a fish by the ability to climb a tree, it will live its whole life believing that is stupid."

By the way, am I the one who feels this way?

7 Do's & Don'ts of a Resume:

Every aspect of your resume communicates a message to the interviewer. From the layout to colors to your responsibilities & achievements, every part is crucial.

[1] Naming of files
- While sharing your resume, name the file properly.
- It eliminates the chances of your resume getting lost in the pile.
- Use the format [Name] - [Last Name] - Resume

[2] Format
- Make your resume reader-friendly.
- Add white space.
- Use bullet points.

[3] Email address
- Never share an unprofessional email address.
- If you don’t have a proper email address, create a new one for your professional journey.

[4] Colors, Bolds & Italics
- Don't use too many colors. It makes the resume difficult to read.
- Stick to 1-2 colors.
- Bold the sub-headlines & italicize to highlight a specific achievement, if any.

[5] Cliches and Jargons
- Avoid the overused and cliche words.
- Instead, use action words and results to demonstrate your skills.

[6] Spelling & Grammatical errors
