Singapore, lovely country visited for two weeks last. The distance from London is the only minus for me. I don't like long distance travel.

Hello.

What are the requirements for this? Also, do you have an idea of how much this would cost in the UK?

The nursing program is mostly popular in the UK, I have 2 female friends and a guy that did that. The process i don't really know, but i think any good travel agent should be able help you with the process.

And Oh, i think you must have a nursing background here first, Any certification that you have trained as a nurse, doesn't have to been from a university. The guy i know did a 1yr training in a nursing school and a 6months internship in a licensed and registered hospital, while both females went to St. Philomena Hospital (The training school) for 2yrs or so.

For cost i don't really know, 4yrs ago when she left, she needed i think about 3 or 4m, but considering our now dollar rate, Only God knows smiley smiley

But you can get dollar from the bank CBN rate if you have a visa

Quite a write up..and all true except for where you wrote that disagree about more life/work opportunities in the US/UK/Canada for Nigerians.
There are actually better opportunities in those places. Trust me. If you need to start a business and you know what you are doing. It's would be very easy because there won't be the usual bureaucracies, bottle necks and obstacles we are all too used to in Nigeria.

what i actually meant was that there are more opportunities in the world for Nigerians/Africans, than these above countries.... especially in places like Australia, New Zealand, Scandinavia, Asia etc but sadly, because of that "american dream" mindset where EVERYONE wants to go to the US, then there are less opportunities in these countries because there are so many immigrants (both legal and illegal ones) trying to make it there., just look at the thousands of people everyday trying to cross from Mexico to the US? its harder to make money in these countries than in the above other countries i mentionned IMHO . how much are unskilled workers paid in the US sef compared to unskilled workers in Scandinavia, for example?

Also if you are the not so ambitious type, there are many unskilled hussles you can do that would earn you as much as your skilled counterpart earn. I know people who go about picking empty aluminum can and water bottles in trash and selling it for 50 to 100 dollars per day.

same happens everywhere...i actually posted about it here in 2017... in Denmark, you get $30cents per empty plastic/metal can and even glass bottle and you can easily pick up 100 cans in a few hrs. the normal ones make an easy 20$ per day doing this, the hardcore ones just sit at parks all day and walk around the dustbins and LITERALLY pick money from the bins, then you just walk to a supermarket, put the cans in a machine that will litterally give you the money back.

here below is my post on the subject back in 2017 (point #cool:

MrBrownJay1:
#1 everyone in Denmark speaks English.... FACT
#2 it is IMPOSSIBLE to get a legal job, unless you have a bank account..... And last time I lived/worked there (2013), you needed a JOB to open a bank account. Yep, you heard me right, that's not a typo. FACT
#3 you need to be legal in the country, to receive your salary.... As ALL employers ( no exceptions) pay your salary to the gov, and after deducting taxes, the gov pays you. Smart Danish! FACT!
#4 the black jobs you will be offered (cash in hand) are worst than slavery, and really badly paid. FACT!
#5 to rent a house, you need a job/bank account... Without it, only a very expensive sub rent would be available, in ghettos. FACT!
#6 If you ever get thrown out of your house in the winter, the Scandinavian winter will kill you in ONE night.... I repeat: ONE NIGHT. FACT!
#7 you can drive from Denmark to Sweden/Germany without having to show any ID whatsoever. (Edited: now with all the terrorism BS, you have to show an ID) FACT!
#8 a very simple hustle is to be a empty can/bottle collector. Many brothas walk around picking up these empty marked cans, beer/plastic bottle the whole day, and then go to the supermarket where there is a machine where you put them in. The machine gives you a ticket and you walk to the cashier and get your cash. Most Danish ain't down with it but many jobless foreigners were making up to 100/150DKK (about 15/20$) per day through that hustle. FACT!

So, is it worth it to go to Denmark?! Hell yeah, but I suggest you have a valid work visa, proper place to sleep at, and prepare for the worst!

This thread is for Nairalanders who have traveled out(relocated) or travel out(foreign visits) either occasionally or frequently.

What are the things; livestyles, culture shocks, cusines, religion, norms, education, government, discoveries that you have noticed in your travels to foreign country/lands that took you by surprise, shocked you, disgusted you or impressed you about your place of visit(country)..?
(Tell us both positive& negative impressionyou had that made you either appreciate Nigeria or criticise Nigeria)

For me: my negative impression was the unnecessary fear for Nigerians.....this made me appreciate Nigerians for their welcoming attitude towards foreigners irrespective of nationality.

While my positive impression was the general contentment and ease with which life is approached.....this made me criticise our mindset of 'get everything by all means necessary " in Nigeria.

I have many other experiences but let me wait for others wink

I was offered admission into Trent University Ontario, Peterborough, Canada for a PG Program.
I'm about to apply for my Visa for the September intake, once my visa is approved, i plan to take like 3 to 5 months to learn a skill i can use to survive out there.
I can see that there are a lot of people who has lots of experience abroad.
Someone should suggest a skill i can learn that make me decent amount of wages over there. At least 20 to 25 CAD per hour.

Also, if there is anyone who has live in Canada, I'll appreciate any word of advice

That's it. A change in location should accompany a change in behavior. I know a number of women who desire to get married but their issue is the man will change once he comes here. My next question is what are your options?

consider this.

When foreigners get married to Nigerians, the marriage tends to lasts longer compared to Nigerian couples. Eg In 2014, I linked up 8 USC with Nigerians that ended in marriage, all are still married. That same year I know 5 Nigerian marriages that only 2 are still couples today. While that is a personal observation, you will agree that we tend to have a higher tolerance towards our foreigners spouses which we don't exhibit toward our Nationals.

We create different expectations. We shy away from having meaningful and sometimes difficult discussions during courtship.

Honestly I would expect my spouse to change if I brought her from Nigeria but the real issues are the men need to change their "orientation" and the women need to "understand" their men.

British Prime Minister was fined for not putting on sitbelt in his official car. Our own President Buhari doesn't obey rule of law. When I saw how people here obey rule of law from traffic, the use of siren , housing , labour law etc I started feeling that majority of people in Lagos have mental health problems including politicians without even being aware of it.
My culture shock is on food. Though thier foodstuffs are relatively cheap but our own African foodstuffs are expensive at African shops.
The day my colleague in the office told me he's gay. I shocked. Every time I see the guy a lot goes through my mind. Disgusting.

Finally someone said it. I totally agree with you. It seems that interracial relationships involving Nigerians and foreigners are worked harder on. A lot of the females and a few of males in my family are married to Eastern Europeans. We are so satisfied with the outcome that once a girl in the family starts to looking to date we start reiterating "Look to eastern Europe".
A good well-known example is "Nurse Glory" on youtube. Eastern European men are somewhere between western and African men, and they are totally good for African women. There are a few racists but the racists ones will have no interest in African women.
I also think African males should consider European and Asian women.
They can go for the women in the west (if they want to) but I would not encourage my male family member to do that.
I love, love, love interracial, intertribal, intereverything marriages.
I encourage our young ones to stop eating heavily, lose the pot bellies, learn to enjoy learning, quit gossip sites and Zeeworld and develop interest in quality conversations and look outside the continent - its a big world out there.

When you go a western country, do your best to refine the accent. Do not lose it but learn to pronounce words clearly and softly.

You're right with your valid point my nigga..

There are two phases of every typical Nigerian, your point is phase one, the other phase is below..

My bro, you know how the typical Nigerian (mis)behaves when it comes to sharing updates, that would bring prosperity to his fellow. A typical Nigerian gets angry and dangerously jealous when his fellow, is on (or about to start) same page/mission with him. Such fellow becomes a threat to him, whenever he (typical Nigerian) remembers how the fellow might do better potentially..

Those guys up there may know what's important to make you grow but instead, they would hide the relevant updates and feed you with gibberish. Eg, ask them to teach or reveal how they made their millions and see how they would deliberately ignore it. But would rather spend their energy on how "it is not always rosy over there", trying to make you believe that over there is slightly better than Nigeria, women, Tinubu/Obi and other time wasting conversations..

Some of these negros know what they're doing bro...

I think the most important thing people don't take into consideration is what next when you get there, They think once you get there with no money and illegally, that manner will fall from heaven and you will earn millions out of thin air. I always advise anyone thinking of traveling to get a business here that can sustain itself then japa, because when you get there, you must pay in their currency and trust me if you have nothing doing, life is going to be difficult.

Literally everyone you see shouting abroad is not what you think are those that go there and expect to find trees with millions growing on them. I have never been to the US, but Europe a couple of times and my experience has been 10/10.

My Experience.
Avoid Campobasso in Italy grin grin

Don't be surprised by the weird smell when you get to paris, takes a while to get used to it. Not really a smell, just don't know how to describe it.

The mentality of coming to carry a woman from Nigeria to marry, PLEASE DON'T TRY IT. they're worst than the so called western women when they get there, I would recommend getting a wife from the Philippines.

The food in Germany is very bland, alot revolves around bread, the types of bread they have is more than the alphabets.

And last but most importantly, Always compose yourself and act upclass even if you aren't, if you get stop by the cops and asked for documents, kindly give it to them and ask them how their day is going, don't go and start shouting and screaming for junction because they asked for documents.

And if you're lazy kindly stay in Nigeria because you won't make it there.

And for the ladies, the easiest way is to go through a nursing program, You get paid and a guaranteed job when you graduate and just a 2yrs program, no go stand for De Wallen for night dey find client because them go burst you las las grin

What country has a two year nursing program with an assurance of getting jobs when you're done with the program?

This is not true and I am surprised you and Kaycee think this way. We all know how diasporans are hounded on this Nairaland whenever they share insights on careers and maximum achievable pay. It is better they keep quiet and mind their businesses. Maybe keep washing the plates and toilets they are accused of.
