Wonders shall never end!

You think you've seen it all? No, you haven't. In this Nigeria, you will see all sorts of interesting things.

This particular couple were both jobless when they met and started courting. But they were seriously in love and really into each other. And you know what true lovers do during challenging times? That's exactly what they did- they encouraged themselves and kept hope alive.

The man, seeing that this is a good woman, did not want to lose the chance of marrying her even though he was jobless. And since the woman, who was also jobless, didn't mind, the man (as a sharp guy) decided to act fast.

One thing they had however was goodwill among so many people. These were some of the people who showed up at their wedding.

So on that fateful day, after managing to prepare for the wedding using mostly borrowed and scantily saved up funds, they showed up beaming smiles and feeling so happy that it was finally happening, that they were both tying the knot.

To their surprise, the gifts that came in were so much and of very high quality. So after the wedding, during their honeymoon, the couple had a heartfelt discussion.

They reasoned together that if they don't do something fast, they would make a fool of themselves, starve and end up looking stupid to those who had come for their wedding. So the wife made a brilliant suggestion. She said they should open a supermarket and start by selling the gifts they got at their wedding. The husband first burst into serious laughter after hearing the suggestion of his newly-wedded wife, but after a while, calmed down, allowed the thought to sink in and then it made perfect sense to him. And BOOM, that was how they opened a supermarket after their marriage and honeymoon and lived happily ever after.

The question now is:

1. With the kind of gifts people give these days at weddings, can any couple ever think of opening a supermarket? By the time you get home feeling happy that you got gifts at your wedding only for you to open the gift wraps and start seeing plastics of different sizes, then you will realize how fast times have changed

Another worrisome question is:

2. Do people even still give gifts at weddings today? With this crippling economy and the prices of everything just going up and up, how many people actually go to weddings bearing correct gifts for the bride and groom?
