Now i happened to be in an unpleasant situation last twoweeks and some bad guys beat me up, i don't know the kind of evil spirit that entered them but they focused on slapping me on both ears. For some days now, i'm hearing heavy sounds in my ears like a trucks motor horn, gunshots, car break that is about to have accident etc

Even alcohol can not make me sleep for 5hrs now before i will wake up.

That is why i'm looking for a way to stop hearing completely, i'm going mad right now and i don't know what to do.

The drugs i was supposed to be taken is not of my reach because it is very cost and you can't get it near me unless i send for it in abj or jos, better still lagos.

I want to stop hearing completely.
there's no point removing it, you're only suffering the after effects of the drugs. You're hearing will return. Try and use ear plugs when ever you go to noisy places to cancel out the noise.

1. I mean why did you lose your hearing? I have had tinnitus for several years myself, but I have nothing like hearing loss, and tinnitus is quite common here. undecided
Aren't the doctors able to restore your hearing or something? If not, what then do you need to be on medication for? I hope not the tinnitus. undecided
you are one lucky hell of a person. Tinnitus is associated with hearing loss normally. It is one of the early symptoms of hearing loss

Humble greetings fam!

I will like to know if its possible to remove my auditory nerve or anything that can make me to stop hearing completely. I suffered a strange kind of hearing loss that comes with another condition called tinnitus

It happened since 2015 when i was admitted in a teaching hospital(doctors told me that my problem was typhoid) and treated for months. When i was about to discharged, i noticed that one of my ears was not functional which i complained immediately to the docs there told me that my condition was critical and was consequently administered hard drugs which is clearly the cause of my partial deafness and was given an appointment in 2weeks time to follow up about the new ailment. I came back home using only one ear.

After about 5days at home, i enter okada to the use an atm in town, upon reaching the bank, i joined the atm line to made my withdrawal, it was there that an old friend started talking to me that i discovered that both my ears were not functional.
the God of O Emmanuel can do that.quote me I'll send u the number..

Have you not read a story in the Bible where a father "represented" his daughter in Jesus' presence. The little girl didn't have to come in person and she was healed at home the very minute Jesus said the words miles away. This guy is trying to stay away from mainstream civilization as much as he could for his own sanity. I suggest you pray for him and Good Will hear you.
GodIsGreat001:

Sure I can pray for him but it hits different when he represent his self on the altar of the Holy Ghost, don’t your think? I am not pastor or evangelist, I’m just a member and I created this Acc just after reading his post so I can tell him the Good News.

Go to twitter, write this issue you're having. Tag WHO, UNICEF, Davido, Don Jazzy, etc. Let others too help you post it, possibly let there be twitter ad about this. You'll get a help swiftly flown out to a country with the best medical system. You'll be fine.

I am really sorry OP for your condition.its really bad and scary I must say. I talk from experience cos I experienced it one time in the past during a surgery. It will be as if the sounds are coming from inside your body.

Here is what I experienced when it happened to me.

People talking in low voices, then someone shouts , TV playing, radio playing loud, your mom calls your name out loud, a bass voice talking, car horn blaring, loud music without meaning, someone telling you you will die, e.t.c all at once...

God !!! its just crazy.never pray to experience it again

It's not tinnitus. It's called audio hallucination.

You can read more about it here

Have you tried seeing ENT specialists?

All the tests he has done, you think it is general medical practitioner that he has been seeing. Even the abuja he went to...

Of course, he nust have seen an ENT surgeon.

I don't support surgery for this .

Lol. You don't support surgery because you are a specialist right?

What op most likely needs is surgery.

1. If you remember any of the drugs you were given, you can post and we can maybe look up side effects to be certain the hearing loss in fact came from that and not some other mistakes made. Nigerian health care system dey fear me pass anything abeg! undecided

The hearing loss is most likely from either or both of these two;

1. The typhoid fever: Though rare, but typhoid fever can cause hearing loss that is permanent

2. The medicine used to treat the typhoid fever. A medicine like chloramphenicol is used to treat typhoid fever and it can cause permanent loss of hearing.

Nothing else will cause the hearing loss. The hearing loss is either a complication of the typhoid fever or the result of the side effects of the medications used to treat the TF.

1. I don't know any doctors that would continue a patient on a drug that they are aware is causing hearing loss in the patient though. Normally, if patient is having such a severe side effect on one drug, you switch them to another where the effects are less damaging. OP's health sounds to me like trying to treat an eye only to have both legs amputated... it is really sad. undecided

Where in the post did the OP say he developed the hearing loss and he was still being given the same medications?

When i was about to discharged, i noticed that one of my ears was not functional which i complained immediately to the docs

That was part the OP comment. So, it is clear that OP was given medications to treat his Typhoid fever, he got better, the drugs were discontinued, he was about to be discharged to go home, when he suffered the hearing loss.

Op I sympathise with you on your condition and I can imagine the torture going on in your head.
You mentioned the situation gets worse when you hear loud noises? If so, I think what you need is an ear moulds that are formed by pouring or injecting a semi-solid mass in your ears and then removing them. This is done by Audiologists who then uses the mould to form an exact replica with Otoplastic material. Once you insert these into your ears, you can’t hear any sound from outside again because they are snug fit according to the anatomy of your ears and leave no space for sound to pass through.
It might be what you need. Please never consider removing your auditory nerve as a solution as severing it might most probably lead to more health problems for you such as balance and always feeling dizzy. Don’t even think about that option.
Get into town and seek out an ENT or hearing aids audiologist and ask for a custom made otoplastic ear mould for both ears. Shouldn’t cost much and they are durable and removable.

A doctor in Kogi State administered a strong antibiotics on my cousin for a surgery carried out, he kept this guy in the hospital for months. My cousin have to send text to my siblings to come and save him by taking him out of that hospital because he already felt he was dying. Before the intervention, he has already lost his hearing courtesy of the strong antibiotics used and consequently lost blood. These days, doctor are now like mechanics, in trying to treat an illness, they create more damaging ones all because of milking money from patients. We need to start sueing them for negligence. You can sue the hospital to take responsibility of financing the cost for surgery abroad. Take advantage of human right activist/lawyer.

My Mum is experiencing the same thing. She always find it difficult to sleep whenever she listen to any form of noise, we don't put on Generator or play music whenever she's around.

We have tried different kinds of medication, but nothing has change.

This is really very unfortunate.
Adverse effects of a particular drug administered to you for typhoid.
Thank God it's not total deafness.
Try an ENT specialist hospital , there's one in Kaduna.
Have you tried hearing aids?

The first one placed my on one drug called betahistine(i forget the correct spelling) for months.

The other one in abj advice i should always engage in exercise and prescribe some simple drugs

The third one told me to continue with the first drug and hope for the best.

The other one wash my ears with an unknown solution, and gave drugs too.

The last i visited suggested an operation, that i will need some test outside the country and a possible inplant in my ears which will cost millions. Lol me wey never see 200k cash for my life, that was when i gave up
I felt pained and anger reading this!!!
This is often the same story I hear everywhere - Nigerian ENT specialist often end up complicating their patient hearing problem!
Nigeria currently don't have Ear doctor(otolaryngologist).
The ENT specialist we have here are only good on Nose and Throat.
Instead of seeing an ENT specialist, I would rather you see a good audiologist!
Please give an update on your situation.

It is very frustrating brother. So far, i intend reaching out to that kaduna hospital and see what will happen. The funds are not ready but i will try soon and for sure give feedback to the house.
