Ezekiel Nya Etok, a renowned political analyst, has come out to share his thoughts on one aspect of the former Anambra governor’s lawsuit that Nigerians should keep an eye on as the nation waits for the outcome of the petition filed by the Labour Party’s flag bearer, Peter Gregory Obi, challenging the victory of the President-elect, Asiwaju Bola Ahmed Tinubu at the Election Tribunal.

Etok, a candidate for governor in the recently completed general elections in Akwa Ibom State, stated during a Thursday night interview on Africa Independent Television’s “Jigsaw” program that the allegations of double nomination made by Obi against the APC’s Vice-President-elect, Alhaji Kashim Shettima, at the Tribunal are so serious that Nigerians should pay attention to what the Electoral Act says about them.

He stated: “In Obi’s petition, there are very sensitive and weighty issues of Law that I want Nigerians to have an open mind towards.

For example, the allegation of double nomination leveled against the APC Vice-President-elect. What is a double nomination? Section 35 of the Electoral Act says that anyone who knowingly, allows himself to be nominated by two parties or in two constituencies, his nomination shall be void, and nothing else.

That statement is so weighty. Because it also means that if out of 9 political parties, seven of them fall short of that provision, all their votes shall be voided. Nigerians need to keep an eye on these kinds of issues because they are clearly explained by the law and it should not be difficult for the courts to interprete them.

How much more can one be confused than this?

Firstly, if you claimed the judges are corrupt, don't you think they will be easy to bribe?

Secondly, you said how will corrupt judge help them? If you have already castigated the judges as being corrupt, why should you people be expecting judgement that will favour you from them?

You people bullied the voters, you bullied INEC, Judicial is the next.

Obi has a case to win but the corrupt judges will throw his petition away on the altar of technicalities. There is judgement in this country but there's no justice. Judiciary is the hope of corrupt politicians. There's no hope for Nigeria.

You are talking as if you were not aware of how the presidential election went. Obi didn't come third, he was rigged to third position and that's part of the petitions in court. Even if Obi comes third, he can still be declared winner. This had happened to him before.

You yourself knows Nigerian judges are corrupt. The reason Obi went to court was because APC and INEC asked him to go to court. As an Obidient, nonviolent gentleman, he has to obey them.

Nothing concerned Atiku with Obi as far as this case is concerned. If Hopeless of Imo who came fourth could be declared winner, someone who was rigged to third position has greater chance.

The votes allocated to the candidates are not truly correct.
I learnt that a lot of Labour Party votes were allocated to APC or reduced altogether while those of APC were inflated.
Even the PDP vice presidential candidate alleged this during his joint press conference with his Labour Party counterpart.
